Jeez... i was looking at getting some paint last week and stopped myself when i saw that shipping was £20... to put it up £20 (to £40) over a weekend (effectively) is taking the Pi$$ IMHO....

Dunno how they justify that (apart from their share-price dive bombing), but that is just a slap in the face to their customers.

That said, as far as I'm aware GW ship stock for free to bricks and mortar stores across the world

Sure, but at least in the UK it arrives as part of the weekly delivery that GW makes anyway, so the marginal cost is very minor (packing and handling the order).

That is a bit silly, but I ordered 2 cans of spray from them as part of a total order of about £30 the other day and they were dispatched by UPS due to the paint shipping rules change. Isn't Forgeworld's free shipping threshold £250 though? It's the highest one I've ever seen in a company...

Haven't noticed anything, free shipping has been 75 euros for years...

EDIT: For those that missed the news earlier in the year the UK Royal Mail (and any couriers that use their services) will no longer accept more than 4 pots of paint so there is a limited number of firms that will take them

Huh?

Mr Vetock, give back my Multi-tracker!

Shipping on five or six pots of paint is £3. Now, we all know GW ain't no saints, but that's almost certainly less than cost price. So yes, they probably can justify it.

Have you tried sending any items via Royal Mail or other UK courier recently? The recent Royalmail and USPS price rises are possibly even more heinous than GW prices!

I think this is a major business mistake, and I'll explain why.

If I wanted the new codex of whatever army was coming out - and just the codex, despite the 20% off at the likes of wayland, it was actually just as expensive as buying from the GW website after adding in postage -thats not a criticism of discounters its simply how it works- and because you normally got your order quicker from GW that is where I would buy from.

Now that isnt the case, you have to add postage on.There is no reason at all to buy from GW themselves.

And yes, postage costs have gone up, but you also have to take into account that GW's margin on those products is getting on for 50% greater than the discounters.
As a business with falling sales they should be eating the small costs to keep the revenue in house.

Fortunately, I will not be effected by this, as I will not be purchasing any GW products, let alone ones directly from GW.

This being said, it made me think that Forge World's free shipping included international shipping. If you spent enough, they would ship stuff from the UK to the USA at no extra cost. This makes me wonder if the increased cost of free shipping anticipates GW closing warehouses, and shipping things directly from the UK. This may make sense in Europe. I do not think that they would close the US warehouse, but I could be wrong on that.

As far as I know, there are no other European GW warehouses other than their HQ. I've ordered twice from their website last year, both orders were shipped to me from Nottingham; Nothing left to cut in this sector it seems

In Germany its better to order from Fantasywelt or a similar company. Fantasywelt also offers free shipping if you buy stuff for at least 50 Euro.

Hurm...the way this was worded, I was thinking the shipping cost had gone from Free to costing £40.

So that's what - two troops boxes or one of something else?

It never ends well
