General idea is that Vulkan goes in with the Rhino Squad and sitting out of LOS as much as possible, with the Razorback squads and the TFCs pounding opponents. The LotD are the tank hunters, deep striking and popping tanks before moving on to other targets. Stormtalons bully backline units where possible and otherwise provide air superiority. When the enemy is thinned out the Rhino moves forward, flaming down the remanents.

My opponents mostly at this stage are Chaos, Dark Angels, and Necrons.

(note: fully aware that at this point Salamanders want to be in drop pods, I just don't have the models).

I don't think you make use of the Salamanders Chapter tactics well enough... one tac squad and then LotD.

Fair point, it's kind of difficult to make a competitive Salamanders list that doesn't involve drop pods, and I'm not a huge fan of the Ultramarines CT.

What about M-Melta's on Razorbacks? Can they take those? or Multi-meltas on the squads inside? Also Raven guard can let you scout forward correct? that would help your tanks.

Once upon a time (back in 3rd I believe) MM turrets were an option in the SM book, I even own 4 of them. Unfortunately they are not anymore, and not only am I not certain which FW book contains the rules now, I'm not sure I'd want to spend $50+ just to use Razorback turrets. I've thought about Multi-Meltas in the Razorback squads, and it would save me about 10 pts.
