I need to double check this but i came up with this army list and wraithknights are epic so also im facing a friend so it is friendly but i thought a second opinion or some improvements might be needed here it is also i may be up against necrons:

A good start point, just a few pointers to help you really stick it to the Tau. For example i am pretty sure a DA unit can only have one Exarch, but i am guessing these guys are in the Wave Serpent and drop out to shoot a LOAD of firepower. If this is the case drop the Diresword in exchange for PW and Shimmershield, just as effective against 1 wound 3+ targets while granting the ENTIRE unit a 5+ invul. You will thank me when they shrug off an ion accelerator shot. Other then that i woulds suggest dropping SL on the Wraithknights (You only get to fire 2 weapons, and if you are firing a scatter lazer over a HWC you suck ) as well as swap the EML on the Wave Serpent for scatter laser to help qith the shield.

With those spare points you can bulk up your war spider unit, and as a point of preference i would suggest swapping the fire prism for the Doomweaver, it is strength 8 against the wole of there army meaning it insta-kills suits, it is barrage meaning it ignores the ADL they are likely to have and ppinning with tau's low ldship is a great combo.

Thanks Alex i will make those changes also the main reason i have the fire prism is because of the prism cannon it fires 60" and out fires all Tau's guns but will change DA weapons and check exarch rule thanks for the advice am a beginner really so thanks also may add a Viper jet bike or a second squad of windrider.

Im surprised alex didnt say this, but you abislotly 100% NEED to switch that to scatter lasers. I dont know if youve ever faced an eldar wave serpent with tl scatter lasers, serpent, shield, and shuiken cannon, but its deadly. One of the nastiest tanks out there. Thats unloading 7TL s6 shots, and an average of 4.5 TL s7 shots. that ignore cover. This is a gun boat. In fact, if you can, get another one of these serpents.

Something I forgot to mention, if you plan on putting the DA w/ the Farseer in the Wave Serpent that leaves your Fire Dragons high and dry, which is never good. With a measily effective range of 6'' even with battle focus they ain't getting near that Land Raider before 2 wraithknights stick strength 10 AP 2 shots up it's bum. With this in mind you could very safely swap these for another unit of 5 Warp Spiders (statistically 10 shots causes 4 hull points at rear armour 10) or a curve ball you could use 5 Hawks as well as an Exarch / Sunrifle which is a god send against any Tau player that runs any amount of Fire Warriors. They drop in without scatter, drop an S 4 AP 4 Ignores Cover large blast (Perfect anti-pathfinder) and then shoot up a fire warrior squad assuming you didn't land within 18 of the path finders (Otherwise you have to shoot at them) with that lovely blind causing AP 3 weapon, on the Tau's lowly I of 2. This is what I would suggest for semi-competitive, Warp Spiders for competitive. Why? Because Hawks are fun!

Hawks are definitely VERY competitive. They're less competitive than Warp Spiders, but that's why you have 3 FA slots. 2 For Warp Spiders and 1 for Hawks. The rest is good, but not as good as these two(with the exception of Crimson Hunter, but only if you're starved for AA).

Drop those Exarch upgrades(if you want to be fluffy and have an Exarch, then pay points for him and nothing else, as it really isn't worth the points).

I also have no idea how you got the 230 points for those Avengers. 10 of them is 130 points, 13 points a piece.

So if you drop those Scatterlasers from WKs, Exarch upgrades from DA and switch the EML on the Serpent to a Scatterlaser(which I also heartily recommend for reasons mentioned above) in addition to the actual cost of the DA, you get 214 extra points. Drop Fire Dragons too and you get 324 points. With that you can do a number of things:

First off, get your Farseer a bike, then add the Mantle of the Laughing God(hide him from markerlight LOS against Tau and Eldar and just throw buffs around. You get unkillable Warlord that way). -55 points

Then get the Wave Serpent the underslung Shuriken Cannon and add another Wave Serpent with the same upgrades(TL Scatterlasers, Shuriken Cannon). - 140 points

Split your DA into two squads of 5 and put one each in the Serpent.

You now have 129 points remaining. With that you can get another squad of 5 Warp Spiders or 6 Swooping Hawks and give your Serpents Holofields.

You might also consider a Nightspinner instead of the Fire Prism, because you really don't lack heavy AT in your list, not with 4 S10 AP2 shots and a gazillion of S6/7 shots from your Serpents and Warp Spiders. Nightspinner is also 10 points cheaper, so you could even get Holofields on it for 5 points more.
