As the title implies, I am from Florida. Somewhat new to the collecting and painting side of the 40k hobby, but I've been playing for about 3 years off and on. I currently collect Necrons and Blood Angels, although the Necrons were bought en masse about 15,000 points, in terribad condition. I've been using a few of these as guinea pigs for my painting. My Blood Angels, however, are my preferred army and I've got 6500 points to put on a table, just with Double Force Org. At the time of this posting, I'm torn between Chaos/Daemons and Orks as my next army. Maybe Orks, so I can work on conversions in a place where looking terrible isn't a bad thing?

SO, HI!

I just moved out of Florida, there's a fantastic 40k scene down there. And to your side note, I played Orks for about a year, and it was the most fun I ever had converting them. I didn't have the time for them once I went off to college so I sold them to someone who could appreciate them, but if you want something you can chop, screw, and glue back together a million different ways and still have it work then they're definitely a great army.

Welcome, Claire!

I would go for Orks. In the Painting and Modelling, Painting and Modelling Showcase and Blogs are many people who make Ork armies which will give you inspiration!

I am in West Florida, Gulf coast south of Tampa. I'm still unclear as to what *exactly* counts as a conversion, but right now I'm trying to pose one of my poor Tactical Marines who happens to have a Plasma Gun. Pointing it far away, while hiding and covering his face with the other arm.

Sounds like a conversion to me! (and a pretty interesting idea too.)
Even if it isn't, if I recall correctly, some people still post pics of models that aren't converted.

Ah, right. Almost forgot. Welcome to Dakka Claire!

Welcome!

If you ever come down to SoFla (more like BestFla), there are plenty of people who play from Palm Beach down to Miami.

And if you go for Orks, you can use whatever bits you have from your other armies and just call them "looted".

That's actually pretty funny.
Yeah, that could probably be considered a conversion. If you still don't know if it counts or not, the Painting and Modeling forum is there for questions and has some pretty nice people there. You could ask there if you're still not sure.

Can't wait to see the rest of it! (if you're going to post the rest of it)

Do you ever get down to Sarasota?

There are plenty of players at DarkSide comics and games. 40k night is Thursday, but there are often games of 40k going on Tuesdays and Saturdays as well.

Send me a PM if you want to arrange a game there some time.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
