Depends on who you read. Has been described at different times as green, red or black. There is a studio statement that says the color of the blood changes based on the Ork's diet and activity, as it is mostly chlorophyll, and will change color with oxygenation and in response to activity and such.

In the end? Doesn't matter.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

According to; Warhammer40k wiki

"Orks are green-skinned and red-blooded, a side effect of their symbiotic physiological and genetic relationship with fungi."

Haha, kind of that, but mostly I have been a 40K fan since like 1988 or so. There's tons of stuff that come up in newer books and things that I don't know, simply because I don't have the time to read every single thing BL publishes (and there's a lot of stuff in them that I'm just kind of "eh..." on, even with the authors I like).

I'm also not quite a Codex Purist, though I prefer to use whatever a Codex says as the "truth" over something in a BL novel or an RPG or something, but in the event it is something that a Codex doesn't cover (like how life on an AgriWorld goes), then I will basically take all the info I can find and figure out an "average". I do the same for a lot of the things in Codices, too, if they seem particularly overblown or just unbelievable. It's a game of legends and myths and poor communication technologies, after all... stories will grow in the telling. Also, body-count math is six men plus one pig plus two portables equals 37 enemies KIA.

But, also, yes. You have to know these things when you're an Inquisitor.

That isn't the blood of an Ork on your sword.

It's uh.. well see when an Ork and a sword really love each other.. well..

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

That way,then left

Depends, as it has been already stated. Tends to be painted red because it's more visible /contrasting with the green skin ( that empire captain cleaning his sword after decapitating an orC).
