Thinking of buying a daemons codex for allies as my CSM need some love. Is it a good idea? I have a Nurgle army so a few Nurgle daemons would help? Please give advice.

Great unclean ones, plague bearers, and nurgle deamon princeswith a balesword are scary units. Beasts of nurgle are terribly under rated and written off.
That being said tzeentch offers the most to csm. Cheap cheap divination psykers, and horrors are about impossible to kill if they go to ground in good cover.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Nurgle daemons aren't the best in terms of competitiveness in the current meta (ignores cover / marker lights). For me, well performing daemon allies include:
1. The cheap option: Pink Horror squad (10) + herald lvl 3 psyker. The herald can take divination to twin link your Forge Fiend or give your 30 man cultist squad a 4++ (or 3++ with MoT)
2. The Moar HQs option: If you have 2 powerful HQs e.g. nurgle biker lord and jugger lord then you can take a greater daemon or Bel'kor as the daemon HQ and a minimum squad of horrors/plaguebearers
3. The Defiler option: If you are unfortunate enough to have a Defiler (or a love of Defilers) then you can convert it into a Soul Grinder and get a better creature for less points
4. More Fast Attack: a maximum squad of Khorne Flesh Hounds (convert from the fantasy warhounds for cheapness) can nicely complement the spawn/biker rush list
5. Moar Daemon Princes: If you love daemon princes then you can fit more in with Daemons but in this case they are probably better taken as primary as their Daemons are a bit better (but don't get Daemon Weapons).
So lots of options and lots of nice models but theres quite a lot of dross in the daemons book (like anything that comes on a large round base)

Yes, Allying in Daemons does bring love in a variety of possible forms.
Balance is key but you can bring in a lot of different options.
Depends on what your current list is looking like, Try to understand where you are lacking and how Daemon allies could address any potential issues in your list.

Well, against Tyranids Tzeench psykers will have some chance to cast their spells. Nurgle/Slaanesh not so much (Ld 4? good luck)

Psykers arn't a problem, I already have a sorcerer and Typhus so that's pretty reliable but am I wrong? I need assault power, my plague marines are ok but I want something that will mostly attack first. Initiative three means I will always lose one or two PMs
