Can this happen?

Subquestion:
When facing tau w/ lots of EWO is there a strategy you guys use to keep your dakkajets or other fliers alive? Or do they just die?

Thanks

MCs are fearless.

*edit* Aren't they?

Most of them are, but not all of them. Riptides for example, can be pinned just fine.

MCs cause fear but they are not universally fearless. As Redemption mentioned, Riptides are an example of a MC that is not fearless and thus can go to ground and be pinned.

No they aren't. Most are, but that's because they have the rule printed for them. MC are not inherently Fearless.

There are very few ways to do so reliably because Pinning is rarely available in forms that can crack a 2+ save. Snipers are an obvious exception but even then you are banking on failed Ld tests.
Most of the reliable methods are dependant on psychic powers from Telepathy. Cold comfort for Orks though.

As an Ork, remember that if he uses Intercept he cannot shoot in his following turn so it's not quite as horrible. Without Telepathy or snipers, you are unfortunately stuck with trying to pin them in melee, hopefully with Klaws. I think Meganobz are the first and only thing I would ever consider a counter, and even then it's a massive expenditure at very great risk.

Riptides are considered overpowered for a reason.

As mentioned, Riptides are not. Nor are Dreadknights. I don't think any Chaos MCs are but Chaos gets pseudo-fearless anyway. All the benefits, none of the drawbacks.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

All MCs can be pinned. And the old metal ones really need to be. It’s easy to do all you need a small drillbit, length of wire, and glue.

Oh wait, I’m in the rules section, not the P&M one. Nevermind…

(Others have answered the question well, I just couldn’t resist the hobby joke…)
