Hangin' with Gork & Mork

Well last Thursday (the 29th) the pipes burst in the apartment above mine and completely flooded our place. The water was cascading from the cieling, coming out of light fixtures, running down walls, and completely destroying the place. Luckily we heard the dripping as it started and I was able to get all of the electronics rushed out into the hallway. Emergency Maintenance took 45 minutes to arrive and shut the water off, in the end leaving about two inches of water on the floor and spread out into the hallway. It spread to two other apartments but nowhere near as badly as ours, and as it turns out they are going to have to completely renovate the apartment so I will have be without a center of operations for 6-8 weeks as they rebuild. The big concerns are water damage (dur) and mold growth. Having to do an emergency move in such exciting weather conditions is truly an exciting, wonderful thing.

Pun intended?
Not sure what I can say except it's a gak situation and I hope it gets resolved quickly and with minimal fuss.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.

No, thank goodness, and the other two apartments that were hit also did not have any children there either.

That's something good in a bad situation, anyway. Do you have anyone to help you?

I've been to busy getting the important things taken care of that I haven't had a chance to go through the box all the books were tossed into so I am not sure yet what got hit and what didn't. We had a really long, wide hallway so I installed book shelves along it to make use of the space, but it also exposed the books to water where if they were on a stand alone bookshelf they would have had more protection.
All in all it could have been far worse, so I'm not stressing over it to much, though I'll be happy when all is said and done.

Well at least your models are okay *relieved sigh*
But keep us updated on your books - and move fast, you may still be able to salvage some if you move fast and have a good heater.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

I remember once while living in a mobile home park, that during the winter the trailer next doors pipes froze and exploded, flooding the street for hours in the middle of the night. It was kinda funny in my situation though because the ice froze my car to the road and it fetched me a day off from work
Good luck getting everything sorted
