So I am a new Nid player, Mostly play with my Necrons and Here is my first attempt at a Nid list.
So here is my list

HQ:
Deathleaper 130pts
Troops:
3 Warriors, 1 venom Cannon 10pts , 1 death spitter 5pts, 1 pair of bone swords 15pts = 120pts
20 Termagants, Devourers, Toxin sacs=200
20 Termagants, Devourers, Toxin sacs=200
20 Hormagaunts, adrenal glands= 140
20 Hormagaunts, adrenal glands= 140
4 Ripper swarms, Spinefists, deep strike= 70
Fast attack:
10 Gargoyle, Toxin sacs= 80
Heavy:
1 Carnifex, 1 Heavy Venom Cannon 20pts, Regeneration 30pts, Bone mace 15pts= 185

Total 1265
Im looking to pick up some more units to reach 1850 but dont know what I should take, Im interested in Mawloc to hit the enemies rear units, and maybe another Carnifex. Aslo Have a feeling I need a much better HQ. Reason why I have so many troop choices is if they choose to waste shooting at my horde, fine let them, saves my big units, if they dont that fine as well, a unit carrying assault 3 weapons is nasty. Basically Im trying to have that right mix where my opponent isn't sure what he should focus on.

Needs more synapse. Some zoans and venoms would be critical. You also have have 0 anti-air capacity. In my opinion warrior squads should be run as all the same weapons are as min squads with a heavy, so I would drop the deathspitter and boneswords.

I would remove the TS from the termagants and go more 50/50 with devs and fleshborers. Get some zoanthropes and venomthropes to provide support and then get some more big bugs. Fexes or mawlocs are fine. Biggest thing is the lack of synapes.

Forest hunter sept ~3500
guardians of the covenant 4th company ~ 6000
Warrior based hive fleet

You need more synapse for sure... If you really do not want them, then run old one Eye at least he lets everything within 12" use his ld when testing synapse...

Up to you. You need to play with what makes you happy...
I would consider removing toxin sacs on the termagants and giving them to the hormagants as they will do more with this in CC.
I personally like Crones better than the harpy as its vector strike is so great S8 ap3 instead of S5, the harpy weapons aren't that great, I think the crone does a better job in its category..
I think ripper swarms are not worth it, they got more expensive, they can not score since they are swarms
The trygon prime is cool - you may consider electroshock grubs since he can shoot 2 weapons a turn and could pop up and nix something.
I still think you need more Synapse - you only have one zoey and 1 squad of warriors the enemy will pick them off and kill them easily I am afraid

so for the Terms just run them bare? and the Harpy with the twin linked Heavy Venom Cannon sounds deadly. The Prime I may do that with, Ill drop norn crown and take that. and ill take probaly another zoan, hard to take venoms with the points left over.

okay so i played my first game as nids yesterday and here is my list and I will tell you guys how it went.

HQ:
Tervigon, acid blood, Regen, Electroshock grubs= 250

Troops:
3 Warriors Venom cannon, 2x talons= 100
5 Ripper swarm, spine fists=85
16 Termagant, Devourer=160
20 Termagant, Devourer=200
20 Hormagaunt, Adrenal Glands, Toxin sacs=200
20 Hormagaunt, Adrenal Glands, Toxin sacs=200
Elites
3 Venomthrope's
Fast attack
10 Gargoyle Brood
Heavy
Carnifex, acid blood, regen, Heavy Venom cannon= 185
Total 1575

So i went off agaisnt my buddy who is a CSM guy who loves Deamons and I was worried about this.
He brought
typhus
30 zombies
10 Marines
10 Plague marines
1 Rhino with missle launcer and combie bolter
1 Heldrake
I think 5 flesh hounds with some leader deamon
and 20 blood letters with skull taker.

At first I was very worried about the game cause I didn't have a single thing to hit the flyer with but thanks to bad reinforcement rolls the Heldrake didn't come in till the end of the game. His zombies assulted my Hormagaunts first but thanks to being close to my warlord I got counter attack and I also hit him first, my 20 guys killed all the zombies but took 3 turns so they were tied up all game. The shooting from my warriors and Carifex actually killed 2 plague marines right off the bat. Then once my termigaunts got in close I pretty much whipped put all his marines in one round of shooting thanks to the assault 3 weapons. Then my Hormagaunts charged the lone typhus with my ripper swarms and finally killed him after 3 rounds of combat. I ALMOST killed everything in turn 3 but his warlord and rhino lasted another turn and finally his reinforcements came on the board. Soon as the heldrake came on he killed handful of units. he deep striked behind my army so basically when it was my turn I just turned around and shoot him to bits as he got closer, finally his last unit was Skull taker who charged my HQ and killed my Tervigon in the first round of combat thanks to my guy not having eternal warrior...

Over all I was very pleased how my army worked and liked the 5+ cover the Venoms gave me, but future games I need something that can shoot at the Flyers of other armies and how can I counter a single guy killing my best unit in one attack?

Unfortunately the list you used was illegal. Tervigons are not characters and therefore cannot be Warlords, and your army must have a warlord.

Beyond that, there is still a glaring lack of synapse. 1 Tervigon and 3 warriors wont cut it in most games. Had the Drake arrived Turn 2, it would have been a different game for sure.

If you are giving your Hormagaunts Toxin Sacs, the adrenal glands are redundant really, and you can put those points to better use elsewhere.

Your points are off on a few units also: 20 Devilgants are 160, not 200 (unless you gave them other upgrades). I assume you forgot to list adrenal glands? If you are using devilgants, the gun is upgrade enough.

With the points saved from the removal of the Glands on the Gaunts, and the proper points on the Devilgants, you have room for a unit of Zoanthropes. I would also advise melding the 2 devilgant units into one unit, moving the Tervigon into a troops slot (and drop the upgrades) and pick up a viable HQ.

For the point total you posted, here is what in my opinion is a better list, and maintains the integrity of what you are going for:

HQ:
Hive Tyrant - Wings, 2x TL Devourers w/Brainleech Worms (230)

Elite:
2 Venomthropes (90)
2 Zoanthropes (100)
2 Zoanthropes (100)

Troops:
30 Termagants - 30 Devourers (240)
Tervigon (195)
20 Hormagaunts - Toxin Sacs (160)
20 Hormagaunts - Toxin Sacs (160)
3 Warriors - all with Scything Talons, 1 VC, 2 Devourers (100)

Fast Attack:
10 Gargoyles (60)

Heavy Support:
Carnifex - HVC (140)

That's 1575, The flyrant gives you some ability to deal with flyers, you have more synapse in the form of the zoanthropes and more cost effective hormagaunt units. You also have a legal Warlord. To bring it to 1850, you could add another Flyrant kitted out the same way and a 3rd venomthrope. Or, give both tyrants Hive Commander and outflank two troop units.
