Quick rules question here, and it might be far more simple than i'm thinking but here goes:

Can a fortification that purchases barricades, claim a 4+ cover save from them if they obscure 25%+ of the model? That is to say, are buildings entitled to cover saves at all? I don't have my BRB on hand but if i'm recalling correctly they're treated in game terms as immobilized vehicles when resolving damage vs them.

In the case that it's yes, i can see adding a couple of 6" sections of wall to put in front of a firestorm redoubt or imperial bunker (which is much shorter than a bastion) being a very good investment.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

It's says to treat it as a vehicle in the BRB so it sounds legitimate (even though it is a little WAAC and TFG behavior).

Not being aggressive here, but why would using an upgrade listed in my book to make my building last longer vs enemy shooting, be WAAC or TFG? I'm not breaking any rules, i don't think, and the cover save would be worthless if the enemy could get side/elevated shots, or in CC.

Oh silly me, I thought you were just making barricades, not purchasing them (I really need to read things more carefully).

After reviewing the building rules, I would concur that they would get the cover save from intervening terrain as long as it coincides with the 25% obscured rule.

One thing to note though, is that the intervening terrain/barricade may cause cover for enemy models as well if the fire points are not high enough up. So a bunker or firestorm redoubt has ground level fire points and thus if you put the obstacles in front of it, your enemy would get the appropriate cover save as well.

Yes I'm fine with that. The lascannons are elevated and those are the key firing elements.

Thanks for chiming in.
