Telepathy will be the best table 90% of the time. Sometimes the nurgle or slaanesh tables can be good but you really have to plan for it.

Well I'm playing SM now, but I have been messing around with psykers and I have to say, the generic powers can be awesome. Like... just great. To be honest though, I haven't seen much use out of him in melee. I guess I've just been running him around slinging spells recently, but it seems to me that an extra mastery level would be great, as I seem to remember CSM get ML3 through uprgrades.

Define "almost" haha. Isn't that supposed to work? Or did you get stomped before your initiative count?

We kinda messed it up. We got tangled up with rules and I ended up thinking the Sorcerer was dead when he wasn't, then we put him back on the board and ultimately we both kind of forgot to actually have him swing. He took one wound from the Daemon Prince and I just boner'd it and forgot. But it was a beautiful plan up to that point!

I still like biomancy quite a bit for sorcerers, especially nurgle sorcerers. Giving FNP to a squad of nurglemators is pretty nasty, and Iron Arms confers besides the stat boost Eternal Warrior so he's fairly capable of attempting some force weapon shenanigans against Monstrous Creatures.

A force axe sorc can take a daemon prince if he is in a blob of guys to give rerolls in the challenge. A 4++ (or potentially 3++) and 2-3 rerolls can ensure you get the opportunity to swing your force axe of insta-death. I had a guy with MoT, Disc of Tzeentch and Sigil who sat in a blob squad of cultists for just this purpose and he could do it reliably (until people stopped running MC into him)

I do something similar with shadowsun and tigurius in a farsight bomb

Go Fire shield in pyromancy, add in shadowsun's shrouded and stealth, and BOOM 2+ cover save. (Technically 1+ but y'know.)

You also do about 5.25 wounds to T4 models at I10 when charged, which is pretty sweet.

I've done this before, actually. When I briefly ran a sorc in with MoK brass tide + Huron.

Of course, this effect also works with a AoBF lord as well. And, hilariously, Huron. He bats in the major leagues when that pile of 20 khorne berzerkers gives him 4 rerolls. Took out a dreadknight with his power axe once that way.
