Hello all,
I am super excited to be getting into infinity. I have, on its way via mail, the starter, a Gao rael and Gao tarsos. I decided to point up what I had and found out that at 200 points I intend to take one of the three combi rifle kamael I have , into a sniper; I played around with building a list and came up with the following:
Kamael w combi rifle
Kamael w sniper rifle
Sakiel LT w viral combi rifle and swarm grenades.
Gao rael w spitfire
Gao tarsos w combi rifle and d charges
Ectros w viral combi rifle
Clipsos w combi rifle (minelayer)
It's exactly 200 points and SWC: 3
What do you all think?

Imo you should always maximize Triads. In your list there are 5 dudes who can form a Triad, which means you're 1 dude short. As much as I love the Clipsos and Gao Tarsos, I believe you should drop one of them to take someone with the Tohaa Triad skill and maybe some Caakss for orders.
Here's a list I use for ITS at 200 pts:

Granted, you don't need so many specialists if you don't play ITS, but you can see the pattern. The Triads are at the top of the list, separated by the Diplomat.

What are the advantages of giving your extros the hmg as opposed to a cheaper option? Doesn't it make a big threat even bigger?

Lol, if you have the SWC then 3 points to upgrade your three wound (!!!) heavy infantry to a gun thats like five times better is a steal
This is the first time I've ever really looked at Tohaa... three wound anything, let alone a well armoured HMG trooper, which can also negate immobilized by leaving the armour is insane. That five point specialist is fantastic as well!
While I find most of the human factions in this game a bit dull, CB certainly knows how to do impressive aliens

Don't pull punches in Infinity. People are going to try to kill your guys anyway, so make sure you get Killy guys in there to do it back at them. Ectros with HMG are amazing powerhouses. Unfortunately you're 2 SWC and 3pts short.

^ This from all I've read an seen playing the cautious can help but put that HMG in a nice spot it can decimate the enemy army.

From personal experience, I run an Ectros HMG and a Gao Tarsos HMG, and against my brothers Ariadna they were embarrassingly powerful. Like I literally felt bad about it after the game.

Yea, to answer the original question, you're getting 16 more range and 2 more DAM on the gun for a couple points and some SWC, it's a good trade. Also, the problem in my list are not the points spent, I can shuffle them around, toyed with different things like Neema, Snipers or Kumotail, the problem is that the SWC is not spent, but I have given up on that, seeing as I need specialists for ITS.
And I recently discovered how powerful the diplomat is. She really is great for ITS, even despite being Irregular.

I felt the same after my last game, it's even more brutal with the Ectros in a link as the leader. 5 Burst HMG is just brutal.

Hmm, I usually fill my SWC before my points with Tohaa, but I tend to field at least 2 of the Chaksa HMGs and nearly always 4 at 300 points.
|
Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...
