UPDATE - These miniatures are all now listed on Ebay - seller name MikeyBoyJ1980 - Thanks!

Hi guys - I am about to sell a load of miniatures on ebay but a lot are so old I have no idea what they were originally released as.

If anyone can shed some light on any of them I would really appreciate it. Think of it as a GW quiz - 100 Dakka points to the winner!

I think the first ones are some kind of troll. The mech in the 4th picture is a Dragon from Battletech. I'm pretty sure the one on the left in the 5th picture is a Wood Elf Wardancer. Some of the other ones might be as well, but I'm not sure.

I know for sure that the Dragon 'Mech (4th picture) isn't a GW miniature and I have a feeling that many of the minis pictured aren't from GW/Citadel.

Unless Citadel made 'Mechs for BattleTech at some point prior to becoming GW-only.

I don't think any of them are GW, certainly nothing I would recognise from the last 25 years anyway.

Guess I was wrong about the Witch Elf!

But anyway, about the Dragon: as far as I know GW/Citadel never did Battletech minis.

2nd picture has at least 3 figures which are NOT citadel/GW. They are celts from another british miniatures producer back in the day - they have integral bases.
I remember these ones - I have a few myself still. I cannot recall the name of the maker, but it WASN'T citadel. This was late 80s/early 90s, too.

Early Citadel miniatures also had integral bases. Mind you, those celts look like Jes Goodwin sculpts; He started sculpting for Asgard Miniatures before Citadel. Are these from that company, perhaps?

I can shed light on a few. As folks have said, very few of these are GW/Citadel miniatures.

Most (possibly not the first one, though the style does look right.) of these are Farie wariors from the "Erin" series of figures from Alternative armies

The figure on the right is another one of these. As was said before, the one on the left is a dark elf from "Marauder"( a Citadel miniatures brand).

Most of these are from the Sidhe faction, which can be seen here:
http://www.alternative-armies.com/The_Sidhe.htm

These figures

And possibly this one

Appear to be from the same "Erin" setting. I believe they are "Formorians" I'm not sure that every figure is still avaialble, but you can find them here:
http://www.alternative-armies.com/The_Fomorians.htm

A note about Alternative Armies. AFAIK, many of these figures date back to the early 90's, and some of their ranges have miniatures that are not currently in production. If the style and subject matches, but the exact figure isn't present, it's a good bet it's simply an OOP code. They have a yahoo group the "notables" that knows the details of these ranges much better than I.
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/notablemembers/conversations/messages

As for these tall bases:

If they are plastic bases, then I've only seen these kind of big plastic plinthe bases in the "Citadel Blanford Warriors" collection.
http://www.solegends.com/citwarriors/
However, the figures don't match that series. Perhaps there is another series that used that base that I don't know about.

A bit more about the Alternative Armies Sidhe. They are are pretty much Fantasy Celts with Dwarf ears, but are really nice figs. When released, they (and most AA miniatures) were considered quite large. Being around 30mm sole-to-eye they towered over GW and other miniatures of the day. That height and the really nice sculpting means that they look quite good alongside current miniatures ranges and it's great that they are still available. I found a batch of Sidhe in a bulk miniatures buy last year and painted them up. Here's what they look like with just simple block-color painting and dip.

Here's how they compare to a number of current and vintage figure ranges including Current Reaper and Eastern Front and Vintage era (though some are still sold) GW, Ral Partha and Grenadier.

Those plinth bases were at one time freely available from GW mail order; They may only have been supplied in retail packaging with that one range, but that doesn't mean those two minis are definitely from that range.

That sounds right. I'm pretty sure they aren't from the "Warriors" line, but that would explain the bases.

Alternative armies - that's the mob alright.

I couldn't recall if they were the same mob that did the "ion age" stuff back then, too.

The celt crouching with shield held before his crotch is buck naked, btw. Mine was painted up "skyclad" but painted in woad as well.

Yep, that's Alternative Armies. They're still doing Ion age in both 30mm and 15mm. They've reissued some stuff that was oop for a while recently and done a few new releases, though mostly in 15mm.
