Hi all,
I have a couple of friends who have been pushing me to get into Infinity. After hemming and hawing for a while, the new Morat Aggression Forces Sectorial Starter Pack really struck a chord with me aesthetically, so I put in my preorder.
I have now received the kit and assembled the minis (which are fantastic), so now I need some advice on preparing to play the game.
My first question is this - I've purchased a "sectorial" starter, but can I run it as a generic Combined Army force? Would this simplify learning the rules, or would it just be a bad idea?
Thanks!

You can simplify learning the rules by not using a Link Team, but yeah you can also run the MAF starter pack as a generic Combined Army force.
I'm beginning to think, personally, that people should start diving in using the Sectorials a lot more to get a feel for how their force will work rather than just going for the "generic" army lists.
Link Teams are one of the more complex rules of a Sectorial, but you do not have to make one if you do not want to.

It does make unit selection a lot less intimidating for a new player.

Are there bonuses to using a Sectorial force other than the ability to Link Team? I mean beyond being able to exceed AVA for certain units?
Is there any functional difference to running my starter pack as Generic vs running it as a Sectorial with no Link Team?

In generic you can take less of certain units but also gain access to things like Shasvastii and Exrah.

Higher AVA for certain units and the ability to field links ARE the advantages of sectorials (links generally mean for more efficient order use. They can make impetuous troops not-impetuous while linked, for example - but this also means you don't get their impetuous orders that you might need)
