Subject: First Blood Angels army list

Hello I've decided to take up Warhammer 40k and I've decided to play Blood Angels. I currently have the codex and a death company box which will be used as assault marines. I aim to have a 500 point army and I'm unlikely to go past that. Here is my army list that I'd like advice on.
Please note that although I have the codex I'm not 100% sure if I'm using it properly so some things may be off.
Librarian
epistolary (Not sure which psychic powers I should pick)
plasma pistol
total = 165 pts
5 man assault squad x3
Melta gun on 1 marine
Melta bomb on sergeant
total = 325 pts
Overall = 490 pts
Thanks for any help.

Blood angels are tough at low points because they're more expensive than most armies. I would start by dropping the Epistolary upgrade which will give you 60 points to spend, maybe drop the jump packs of 1 assault squad, put them in a transport and run them with a priest?

If you mean a Sanguinary Priest then that would leave me with 10 points which wouldn't be enough for a transport. I also wouldn't be able to put a jump pack on it how ever I could give it a storm bolter or hand flamer or a combi weapon.

Since you're new and everything I hope you're patient. You won't win very much with BA, they're currently the worst codex.

If you are sure about running a Librarian, then you should take shield and wings. That way you don't need epistolary, because I believe that someone posted recently about how you can use both powers because one is on each turn and you can use one a turn?
