Is/has anyone played the standalone alpha release of Day Z?
Im sort of tempted although a friend says it is a bug fest currently. I know its alpha and they are patching all the time however.
I didnt play the modded arma2 version but loved the Opflash/Arma series and chucking in a zombie survivalist element sounds great.

Its not as bad as the mod was when it was released (at least rocks no longer eat you....) but its missing a lot of features and there isn't really much to the game at the moment.

Its still playable and its still DayZ but its probably best to wait a few months at least.

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

I'm curious how they plan to fix shooting on sight though. Because from vids I watch, people STILL shoot on sight even with the risk of damaging good gear.

They need to fix shooting. Weapon accuracy is mental.

Yeah that too. I agree that in the real world a worn out busted weapon won't be so reliable or accurate, but good gravy they exaggerate that too much.

Yeah I'm going to wait for a bit longer for them to develop it further. Been looking forward to the standalone for a long time, as soon as its a bit more stable, my brother and a bunch of friends are all going to buy it

They can't. This is essentially an online FPS, people will always shoot on sight and the more people who shoot on sight there are then the more people will be forced to adopt a shoot on sight policy. Its a positive feedback loop that will be very hard to break.
