messing around with this possibility. I like mech and in your face lists and this looks like it might do the trick. Still messing around with it, might add some Cultists. or a termie group. Not sure yet what are your thoughts, DakkaDakka? still trying to get it down before i make my purchase.

Other armies have some serious anti-tank at 750. I don't know your opponents, but average players know that if they kill (or even shake) midfield, the rest of their stuff can easily tear up a Predator or even the bikes. Serpent Shield alone would rip into some bikes, and all it takes is some failed 3+ as you know.

Under 1000pts, I'm of the opinion that you should just stick to some cultists and have a Heldrake, a Prince and some Oblits do the heavy lifting. Troops (like Plague Marines) are more important once you hit 1500pts and above.

Of course, I ran Ahriman w/ two foot-slogging Thousand Sons units with some Mark of Nurgle Spawn at 1000pts against Tau and somehow did okay, so anything is possible. Rhinos at 750pts are more of a hindering thing than a mobility thing.

Your list's success (like mine) at 750pts is highly dependent upon which opponent you face.

OUCH!
I myself love 750 point games, but you sir, just turned me off from them. A Heldrake and a Prince at 750 points? I couldn't fight that. Flyers at that point cost is scary enough, but a Heldrake is extra scary. I agree, armor spam at 750 point is not the best strategy.

It's all in the rolls.

If you wish to destroy your enemy, then a DP and a Heldrake at 750pts is the way to go. Played it once at 1k, was absolutely horrible.

My 750 point list

1 Chaos Sorcerer - 60

10 Cultists - 50
10 Cultists - 50
17 Cultists - 78 (hide Sorcerer here)

3 x Heldrake (baleflamer) - 510

Hide in deployment zone until drakes come out. Bring tissue paper for your opponent.

You guys are out of control. If you bring a Prince + Heldrake, or Tripple Drake to a 750 point game... you are just begging to never get a game in ever, because you *do* have to have opponents willing to play you. Its a game, and furthermore a small point game which probably has a more introductory purpose to it...

Anyway, Cultists are a great choice, due to their low points cost, which allows you to fit in bigger guns elsewhere. Oblits are always an excellent choice for the versatility of fire power that they bring to the table, and with toughness 5 from Mark of Nurgle they are surprisingly resilient.

If you are looking to make a good intro game list, the list in your OP is pretty good, as it contains a bit of everything, and has some pretty decent flexibility. But as was pointed out there are builds that are strictly speaking more competitive by bringing in big hitters like Drakes and Princes.

To be fair I only did it once and at the express permission of my opponent to 'do my worst.' As he was in preparation for some upcoming torney.

I only suggested that 750 list because it works. All that "out of control" stuff is uncalled for. I bring Thousand Sons every game and don't even own a demon prince or heldrakes.
