Quick Question.

So I have an HQ model in my primary detachment that must be the warlord- no problem. Can I have a model in my allied detachment that must be a warlord too? If so would I ignore the rule for him?

What character(s) do you have in mind? I just checked for Asurmen that must be your warlord, and he's got it specified that it's only if he's in your Primary .

Can't trumps must in a permissive ruleset.

If someone must do something but can't then you can not do it.

like the 5th ed chaos dreads crazed must move, but if they were immobile they can't move. So they stood still.

Azrael only has to be your Warlord if he is in your Primary Detachment. This was erratad in the DA FAQ.

Page 53/93 – Azrael Warlord Trait.
Change this entry to “If Azrael is in your primary detachment,
he must be your Warlord. He can choose any of the Dark
Angels Warlord Traits on page 28 (there is no need to roll)”.

Also, you can't have Deathwing as troops if Azrael is in the allied detachment. The permission to take them as troops is only granted for primary detachments. Doesn't mean you couldn't bring them in the elites slot for the allied guys, but does mean you'd still need some tacticals/scouts for the compulsory troop choice.

I know you used DA to represent Dark Angels there, but it looked liked you were referring to it just as, DA FAQ!

That was a common reaction to the state of the Dark Angels codex on release...

Thanks guys. I misread the part about him needing to be in the primary detachment. Thanks for clearing up him as an HQ for the allied army.

I think there is a wrinkle in that an Inquisitor from the =][= detachment can be your warlord even if he isn't in the primary IIRC.

Not quite. The Inquisitorial Detachment can be the Primary. But it doesn't use the standard FOC.
