For my IG I want to get all my models assembled but should I just give them autocannons and get it over with?(for HWS)

No real need to magnetize your tripod mounted heavy weapon teams. Most of the weapons can use the same models just fine, only the missile launcher and mortar are really different, but since the real key is 2 crew and one weapon you can set up your stands so that the crew are there and then you drop a built mortar on the stand for the battle or a tripod mounted lascannon, autocannon or heavy bolter in place. You can even put pins on the underside of the missile launcher to mount it on the tripod. No need for magnets at all. If you want the crew to be manning every gun when you swap them out, then you'll need to magnatize the arms for repositioning for different weapons. Otherwise just change out the weapons as needed.

I just commit to a specific weapon kit and go with it. Currently I have based: 3 FW chaos renegade heavy stubbers, 3 renegade missile launcher teams, 2 renegade autocannon teams and 1 lascannon team. Between them I can get multiple combinations of anti-personnel, or anti-vehicle I like. The heavy stubbers even occasionally do duty as heavy bolters with my friend's aggrement. Usually I find that people start out wanting to be able to use ALL OF THE WEAPONS!!!!, but then find the groove that they like most and ultimately don't need all of them all of the time, so spending all the time magnetizing can get wasteful. I usually build my armies in a way that I have options available within the force, so don't have to have each special or heavy weapon changable to something else, because I can just use a different model.

Yeah, I would agree with just commit to a weapon and go for it. Depending on how you use your heavy weapons teams, either as individual squad support or enmass as Heavy Weapons Squads via a Platoon formation. Do what you need first then go from there.

I based the big 60mm bases empty so I could put what I need on them.

the guys that come with each team i based on 25mm bases. One I made pointing and the other i put a weapons handgrips in so it would appear he is using a remote trigger.

The morters I based on termy bases while the missile launchers I put onto standing guys.

the heavy bolters, las cannons and autocannons, I based on horse bases on tripods and rubble pieces. (note, I just dont attach the battery or heavy bolter ammo box (the battery can be used to base the las connon on top of.

I put whatever combination I need for a team onto the big base. By using extra standing guys, and a few extra 60mm bases, I can even have multiple different weapon teams from a single starting one or squadsfrom a squad box.

Go with magnets, the more options the better imo.
