I know! I have this idea stuck in my head of a "proper" knight army for 40k- a wing of knights supported by men-at-arms-esque imperial guard forces, different squads painted up in the heraldry of the knights they serve under.

Must...resist!

What you might want to try is to create a piece of terrain using something like a wrecked rhino, put in a small MP3 player & hook it up to a small speaker. When the game starts just flick a switch & away you go!
The best bit is if your opponent knows nothing about it & your sneaky when you turn it on!
I know this sort of thing is possible as a friend of mine did it with a Slaneeshi landraider.

I was ready to do a pre-order but as there's still some doubt on whether chaos can use them I might wait a bit & see if they do a chaos version or bring out rules to allow these ones in.

I like them and will get one sometime but I'm ticked that you can get 2 1/2 of them for the same points as a lord of skulls and there better (mostly). And yes I have a Los and he's a nice model but I need of a points drop badly.

That's a weird one but good. The riptide is tall because of the base and the knight is small because of the stance. Still. Fethin' huge!

There is not much you can do with the stance, it's not posable until you get to the waste.

i have tools, everything is posable!

Frontline Gaming do 20% off everything, and usually toss on an additional 5% for pre-orders. If I get one, it'll be from them.

Miniature Market? 20%... Warstore is about the same amount, right? Or you could just buy two Dreamforge Leviathans for about the same price, they're on sale right now. ;-)

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

I love that it's cheaper in Australia than Canada.

Considering a large portion of Canadian customers import due to ease, or FLGS's offer US pricing to compete, I'm not sure what GW's angle is. There's no special tariff on plastic models, and they're just shooting themselves in the foot there.

But then that's nothing new; they did that when they closed GW canada and with it, the overwhelming majority of their stores and increased the price disparity (prices were closer when the Canadian dollar was $0.60 to one USD than they are now).

But I digress. I'm still not a huge fan of the model, and will most likely not get one. I'm not that into big walkers; I have a riptide, and didn't enjoy building or painting it, and haven't enjoyed using it all that much either. I pretty much lose interest after Contemptor/Trygon size.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

I totally get what you mean about the Red Alert analogy. Every RTS for me would be build the horrifically large units and just plow through the computer. Wasn't the most tactically sound but it looked cool.

It's that kind of thing that's part of the inspiration of wanting to own a fair few of these Knights.

A man after my own heart! I have never grown tired of Hellmarch, simply one of the best video games songs of all time.

I think that if I do end up buying knights, it'll be a force just like this, to complement my regular Ork and Dark Eldar armies. Whenever I feel like having a knock-out brawl, I'll pit these armies against the knights. I imagine that Knight Wars might be a thing that comes about from the purchases people will be making. Perhaps then big games will just be big models fighting each other, which would at least be something that goes by quickly.

My final contribution music-wise to the Knight themes from Gustav Holst's "The Planets," specifically the Mars segment. I think this piece goes perfectly with Battlefleet Gothic, but since its demise I feel Knights will have to take the theme:

Spoiler:

@bubber: now THAT is an idea. I know I have a wrecked rhino laying somewhere around here...

I have never felt so poor! I want one SOOOOOOOOOOO much. They are the most awesome looking models i have seen, and i want want just to see how long it would take to make it and how big it is compared to my wraithknight.

Who needs Grey Knights when you've got Deathwing Terminators!

Terminators don't kill people, people controlling the terminators do!

So....the GW site lists it at 8 inches. Does that mean the 28mm Leviathan might actually work with it better than we thought?

Yes if it really is 8" they should only be about half an inch apart. The DF Leviathan will still bulk out more, and the rotary gun will always look a bit large.

On the separate decal sheet I notice that there are what appears to be Ultramarine, Crimson Fist and Imperial Fist themed transfers. I'd imagine that these are marks of campaigns in which they fought side by side rather than some kind of chapter dedicated Knight Household.

These can only be bought in GW now right? I only ask because there's a WHSmith (who stocked the original WD in the UK) like 30 seconds from my work, whereas the GW is a good 10 minute walk.

So, me being a particularly eager Leviathan/Knight owner, and having got WD early, I've played the first few turns of a game with the Knight Paladin. It fitted nicely into the 1500 DA list (rest of list was 2 tacticals, 2 DW, 1 RW, Libby and Inq). Let me tell you, this thing just 'feels' great to play with, the towering monstrosity implacably advancing across the board is just really cool. Also, while it's not yet close to making its points back (we're only on T3), it's been blowing stuff apart left right and centre, and taking and tanking hits from half an army with impunity.

These things are pretty epic, all things considered.

@MoD: your LGS or newsagents should have WD. It's not GW only.

Does the WD say if its for normal play or escalation or what?

The WD just says what has been posted here, that its either allied (1-3) or primary (3-6). Nothing on whether it's a LOW or not, so I'd assume it's not. The codex may prove me wrong, though.

I'm running with the Paladin variant (rapid-fire Battle Cannon) as that best fits the model I'm using, but I may try the melta at some point. Like I say, it's not disappointing in terms of firepower.

Got it into melee yet?

Hows its survivability with the directional 4++?

I got it into CC on the last turn we played, it outright destroyed a squad of 10 Necron warriors and the attacked lord between the HoW hit, the 4 S: D attacks and the Stomps. That may have just been good rolling, but it was certainly destructive.

The survivability is pretty damn good, although I've had above-average rolls on the 4++. It's shrugged off a tonne of Gauss hits and a Doomsday Ark, as well as a horrifically scattering shot from its own cannon! So far, it's HP 1 down, 5 to go.

I do not own any GW kits atm and I am assuming that is a riptide in the pic with the knight? how tall is a riptide?

inquiring minds want to know

Bloody hell, that sounds fantastic.

Gotta say I really like these models now that I've seen them painted up. As long as they restrict the D to the enormous chainsaw and don't make the guns too "large blast twin linked S10 AP1 infinite range herpderpderp" I'll be fine to play them

It's pretty weird, from the pictures looks like 6-7" max but per the GW website it is 8" tall...

I hope the website is right as that would but it right in line with a fantastic proxy kit...
