I was spraying some models with GW white spray paint (recently bought) but it was coming out very watery and runny, I had given the can a good shake.
Any ideas what might be up?
I tried twice with no difference. Just a bad can or?

Gw's white spray paint is awful, Halford's do a good plastic spray paint.

Huh? I've always loved GW white spray. It's one of the few GW modelling/painting products I still buy.

If you shook it well and the weather wasn't too adverse (high humidity, very low temperature) then maybe it was a bad can.

I've also found the white spray a good staple, better than some AP, and certainly better than two types of Tamiya white primer.

I spray from a distance, and if it's especially cold I spray indoors.

I've always had good luck with GW sprays of all colors, and still prefer them for white and black.

That being said, I had an oooold can of GW bone spray, which came out wonky and watery no matter what I did. So I changed the spray nozzle and it worked perfectly. Even with a new can, if the spray nozzle is blocked or obstructed, you won't get a good spray.

Same happened to me just today with black...

Much much more watery than my last 4 cans.... It was quite chilly and quite humid (it's pouring with rain here) but this was inside....

scratch that... my White is the new can, the black i've used before.

Yeah, it must be the atmosphere as it was just this spray session.

My instinct is to say that the can was not shaken well enough.
The 'watery' that you describe is possibly the solvent sitting seperated from them pigment in the can and coming out when you spray?
Heat the can under the tap, and shake it well, then shake it some more, and more again. #1 error with spray cans I see is not shaking it well enough, #2 is not heating the can up.

I have never understood how someone can justify paying $16.50 USD for a can of crappy spray paint.

I buy the Krylon flat black/white spray for less than $3.

GW hobby products are a RIP OFF!

Use whatever you like, for me it gives a finish that I like as a primer and a can lasts me quite a few models, I spend more money in gas to get to the hobby store in a month than I spend on GW white spray.

Thanks for the feedback peeps, temperature I think was definitely the problem looking back. It was freezing that night!
I'll try and warm water trick and see how it goes

I had the same problem, but if you spray further away and shake the can a lot it goes on nicely.

Hope it helps
