Question:
Assume there is a model next to the Mawloc partially under the green template for a minute.. Lets also imagine I just deep struck and rolled a hit in the middle of the Mawloc's current position and kill everything except for that lone model we are imagining above. Can I then decide to place the Mawloc 180 degrees from his current position so that I will be able to get another large blast in on that model?
OR
Do I HAVE to position the Mawloc in any rotation that will allow me to legally fit him?
Bearing in mind.. I did not choose the rotation of the Mawloc before I placed the blast marker

You have to choose the position of the Mawloc prior to rolling the scatter dice, you do not have permission to rotate it afterwards.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

Ahh k so I must use the Mawloc base it'self for the deep strike, then if it rolls that hit I place the large blast marker.
I got confused with the template I should be using! haha of course you would use the Mawloc base to see if you hit a model first. "duh"

I thought you placed the template and resolved the scatter and effects before you ever even touched the mawlock model?

No; the first part of the process of deepstrike is placing the model. You then, if you meet the specific conditions for the mawloc, replace the model with the blast marker.

I know the process for normal deepstrike, just thought the terror from the deep rule inserted a blast template in place of the mawlock for the inital placement and scatter rolls.

This then means you can kill every model under the tempate and still be within 1" of an enemy model, causing a mishap... yikes. That could be good or bad, depending on your PoV...

Mawloc's rules supercede the basic DS rules. This includes the ability to be within 1' of the enemy when it arrives on the table.

Apart from the specific rule stating otherwise.
