FMCs, Soulgrinders (though a little lachlustre at that role) and fortifications are your AA options. Nurgle is not a strong god for Daemons (Tzeentch then Khorne are the best with Slaanesh being a good support god particularly on Daemon Princes).

Flying slaanesh Prince with iron arm and the lash. 2D6 str 9 shots. Name a flyer that will stand up to that...

Even without iron arm, the lash prince is the best AA by far. A vector strike followed by 2D6 S6 shots on the rear armour will put down anything.

Nurgle and khorne aren't competitive. It's all about slaanesh and tzeentch.

Khorne sure as hell is fun, though. 5 FMCs at 1500pts. Mmm... Yes....

I disagree.
Sure, nurgle isn't very strong by itself, since it's trademarked powers and abilities are for defence. In attacking role, nurgle does...well, ok'ish. There can be very strong combos, or just deep strike half of your army next to enemy, and laugh maniacally. Soul Grinders work for anti-air good enough, if you're going for pure nurgle. Just don't take only one, always take 2, and they're keeping air clean. Slaanesh daemon prince is by far the best anti-air daemons do have, with flying greater daemons doing the job well too.
All daemons of differend Gods work well in their own field, but I have seen so many horrible ways to play daemon units. Khorne hits hard, and everyone knows it. You're quaranteed to get plenty of shots coming their way. On the other hand, if you get something to disturb opponents game plan, you can get Khorne based armies to combat.
It is fairly possible to make a khorne and nurgle themed lists semi-competitive, even competitive if played well and with well-thought plan. I know I have managed to do it.

Khorne and nurgle lists are more beer and pretzels with your buddy. They won't win any GT. Soul grinders are truly meh anti air with only three shots at sub par ballist skill at str 7.

I disagree Khorne aren't competitive. But its 1 list, 60 Khorne Hounds is a strong list. That's 120 wounds your opponent has 1 turn to deal with before being mass assaulted. Tzeentch are for deathstars. Slaanesh makes a good back up choice. Nurgle is good on Soulgrinders and that's about it. If you're running a min troops list then plague bearers hiding backfield are viable. Nothing else is really any good for Nurgle.
The Drones are quick and fairly tough but don't really have the hitting power even wounding on 3s with rerolls they struggle due to lack of Ap and attacks. Its just a load of Meh for Nurgle.

Maybe in most cases, but my buddies are all cut-throat tournament players, who will gladly wipeout me if I won't try to take them on as hard as I can. So, even if I use Khorne or Nurgle, I will always try to play as if I'm competing in tournament. No exceptions. Like I said earlier, people who say they are not effective more than likely don't know how to play with them. Sure, they may not the best of the book, but for one to seriously compete, one needs to think outside the box.

Thinking outside the box is fine, and I'm glad you play to your utmost. Sadly, however, nurgle and khorne get to be casual gods of this while tzeentch and slaanesh shine.

Khorne is far better as a mono god list than Slaanesh. Tzeentch is the best the book has to offer with screamerstar but 60 dogs is probably the stronger Tournament list as it is more reliable and has fewer bad match ups. There is a reason screamerstar never wins big tournaments.

This. DP of S with lash and soul grinders are your best options, but the DP is better because DPs tend to be better than soul grinders in the current meta.

I strongly disagree with this, to the point where I will flat out say this is wrong. Besides flesh hounds, Khorne is in fact the worst choice in the new codex. Worst HQ choices and troops in the book.
Tzeentch and Slaanesh are the most powerful, having the best daemon princes(besides MC hunting, as Balesword Nurgle DP has this honour), arguably the best greater daemons, the best troops, as well as fateweaver, 2++ saves, rending and fleet.
Back on topic, I'd recommend Soul grinders for a pure nurgle daemons list. This list won a tournament recently:
Nick Nanavati, TOGIT RTT
Fateweaver
Epidemius
Herald of Nurgle, Exalted Reward, Exalted Locus
Herald of Nurgle, Exalted Reward, ML 1
2 x 10 Horrors of Tzeentch
1 x 10 Plaguebearers of Nurgle
9 Plague Drones, Champion w/ Greater Reward, Icon, Plague Banner
3 Soulgrinders, Mark of Nurgle, Phlegm
3 Soul grinders provide some anti air if it is needed, though their time is often better spent shooting their phlegm cannons to increase the tally.
Slaanesh and tzeentch do anti air better I'm afraid.

You're high... seekers, daemonettes, slaanesh princes, keeper of secrets... slaanesh is arguably the best way to go mono god. ..

I am disagreeing, I would say Tzeentch is the best way to go mono god, slaanesh is good, but why do you think flying circus and screamer star are the 2 most pain in the ass lists to deal with while playing vs daemons? Indeed they're both Tzeentch, so yeah, I would say Slaanesh and Tzeentch are the best combo. But don't get it high up, I have a mono Nurgle army which works quite fine. Since you can just get 20 plaguebearers to go to ground with a 2+ cover save and just have a good laugh at your oponent trying to get them off the objective. Nurgle works quite well in objective game modes, but take a Daemon Prince with Balesword in that case (4+ poison that you get to reroll and instant death is ridiculous) and a soul grinder for the AA. Ow and if you want to do a full Nurgle list, grab some plague drones, they are sooo good
I hope this helped
