Look at his kills vs damage and then everyone elses.

3k damage for 7 kills? Then see the guys with slightly less and only 1 kill. What's happening is the IS are blasting the German tanks down to 10-20%, then the TD sitting sniping picks them off while the IS moves to the next target.

What I think he's getting at is the fact he has 3k damage and 7 kills, whereas some of the IS' have 1 kill and 1.5-2.5k damage.

if i had my IS or IS-2 in a match vs all those tigers id have over 3k dmg as i would have put every round i had into them.

I have an M2 Medium with the howitzer as well and I love it. Though I have much higher tier tanks I still take it out for a spin nearly every day. It's a well armored and dangerous foe for its tier. I have a 61% win record with it, so maybe I can help.

First, remember that at tier III there are very few bounces, virtually every round fired by you and at you will penetrate. This means that using cover is even more important than it sometimes is at higher tiers.

Second, snipe where possible while not spotted. Let lighter faster tanks do the spotting, them snipe the enemy with the howitzer. It has a long range and is very powerful often destroying enemy tanks at tiers I to III with just a hit or two.

Third, be sure to use your facing properly. If you have to take hits make sure that they hit your front armor, preferably at an angle of about 30 degrees to maximize the thickness of it against the incoming fire.

Fourth, the M2 Medium is fairly fast so if you have to move quickly and redeploy to another part of the battlefield to avoid more powerful enemies.

It's important to compare your tanks to the others in the game and adjust your tactics accordingly. If you have a tank in the highest tier in the game, get out there and bully the enemy! If you are lower tier then hang back and add your fire in a supporting way while avoiding taking hits from higher tier enemies that will vaporize your tank. For example, occasionally World Of Tanks (WoT) puts me in games with tier V tanks while I'm using my M2 Medium. I always keep carefully hidden in games like that, sniping higher tier tanks when I can. I've killed Matilda and T14 tier V tanks this way. If I'm in the highest tier for the game then I play more aggressively. If most of the tanks in the game are lower tier than my tank I play even more aggressively. Be aware of the situation from the start of the game.

I have been playing around in a VK 36.01H recently and its an absolute monster, easily my favourite T6 heavy. It's gun is nothing special but its fast(ish) and it is supremely good at side scraping, for example I held the street on Himmelsdorf against 2 T6 meds, a Nashorn and a Jagdpanther and all they managed to do to me was break my track, I didn't lose a single hit point. I absolutely hated it in the beta, I suspect that I didn't know how to use it.

I had an 'interesting' game earlier, a US/ German confrontation game where the US team consisted of 14 Hellcats and 1 lone arty. I managed to spot 12 of the Hellcats and held them off long enough for majority of my team to Lemming to their deaths.

Hellcat city. That would have been a sweet game to be in my hellcat for.

I am stuck grinding through the M3 Lee.
