Subject: Lobbas behind wagons, Lootas with MAB from reserve?
|
 |
Nasty Nob

Two MAB, two 15man Loota squads, maybe in reserve.
Use the MAB's rules to get two troop choice nobz/MANZ units for the bare bones battlewagon with maybe two BS and a rigger. Use 3rd elite slot to pickup another Nob/MANZ wagon. Pickup a full compliment of Lobba Gunz with trimmings. Pick a brand of bubble wrap you find desirable and field it.
The cunnin' plan? Corner the wagonz with Lobbas hiding behind them. Bubble wrap the wagonz such that drop melta and combi melta can't easily get bonus dice for pen on turn one. Spend turn one prioritizing any soft AP2 shooting your enemy has while offering nothing but AV14 or bubble wrap to fire at. If Lootas are not in reserve then use them to fire at ligjt AV carrying BW threats or MAB threats. MAB is essentially tanking fire for lootas and letting them move and shoot to spread angles on vehicles.
The base costs for this list gets around 14-1600 points. Hopefully I've got points quick scoring or denial unit like Trukk boyz or stormboyz out of reserve by turn 3 or 4.
EDIT think it would be fun to play with?

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works. |

Right now I'm playing 45 Lootas in 3 HS BW's on the Landing Pad. Against Str 9 and 8 Melta point blank tau I lost a total of one BW. It is ridiculous tough. No room for LobbAs though :(

Lobbas are one of the best units in our dex right now. Unfortunately, it's in the same force org with battlewagonz - one of the best assault vehicles in game. So if you spam wagonz - go full wagonz. If you got just 1-2 and ain't planning of more - definitely get a squad of lobbas. Lobbas got limited use but they're awesome at what they do. So i'd not spam them and just take 1 squad of 3 with ammo runts, a few extra grots and probably a runthread if u're afraid that the enemy will pin them with snipers or make them run with just a few casualties suffered. While you can avoid taking too many casualties, you can't avoid being pinned with just ld5 grots.
Also, they're an awesome retinue for a sag mek. So you don't need a runthread in this case.

Are lobbas that amazing?
I compared them to the Eldar Lobbas, 5p more expensive and alot of better stats.
Im running kannons instead, 97p for a full squad is really nice.
And I have notived that what my army need is long range anti tank rather than anti infantery.

Lobbas can do one thing Kannonz can't, and that's snipe using barrage rules. Can be helpful when you want to take out a non- IC model.

Kannons can't really kill anything that Lootas can't already deal with. If your using them to hurt AV14 your doing it wrong.

Lobbas ability to pick out the flamer guy, melta guy or whatever is, in my opinion, enough to beat the kannons S8 shots. Lobbas ability to hide and shoot is also a huge advantage. BS3 Grot crew do make kannons pretty viable but in my opinion they are edged out by lobbas most of the time.
I think an Ork army that isn't packing at least one unit of either Kannons or Lobbas is putting itself at a big disadvantage. Whilst they do compete with Battlewagons you can take a wagon as a dedicated transport for a MANZ unit which frees up a slot.

I think a fun idea for apocalypse would be an ultimate MSU list of nothing but 20 point single cannon mobs. You could get 100 4 wound T7 Str 8 36" range separate units in 2000 point list. Let your teammates take things to hold objectives.
Ultimate PITA list.
