Subject: Promethium Relay model - would you allow it?

Before looking at the image, here's the question: would you allow this as a model to represent the Promethium Relay pipes? (A fortification from Stronghold Assault, which currently lacks a model.) I would assume that this represents one long and two short portions. (The walkway is the long, and the two stands are the short.)

Looks cool to me. MOST players would also have no problems with it.

Would I accept it? Sure, without a doubt.
Is it my preferred vision of a Promethium Relay? Not by a long shot.
I have the molds for Hirstarts Pipes, and will be making something much closer to the dimensions of the Aegis Defense Line.

My only problem with that is how are you getting the cover save from the long walkway bit?

I'd have no problem but...
I read it as being more like an Aegis line (but made of pipes), that the unit takes cover behind.

Id allow it.
As long as it isnt a 5" diameter ABS pipe that is 4 feet long it should be fine.

I would play against, but my idea of the promethium pipes is more akin to this, though.

See, I was leery of the pictured model because the impression I got was that it was intended to be a wall. If everyone's cool with it, I'm sure not going to complain.
I found the one you linked, Tannhauser, but I don't like that one very much. You definitely couldn't use that one for cover. (You even have to use your own toilet paper tubes to assemble it! )
There's another Armorcast one I liked better, but I think the overhead pipes look MUCH cooler.

I think it would be fine. I don't have stronghold assault so I can't opine on whether or not the piece should provide cover, but as long as you and your opponent agree on the specifics, you should be fine.

I'd allow it, because its a game for fun. But I would remind you that all parts of your fortification are supposed to be on the ground as I wag my finger at you. If that was supposed to b a single length of pipe and was the right length end to end no issues at all.

I personally wouldn't use it, but I would have no problem playing against it.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I'd be mildly concerned about playing against it for these reasons:
1) Because the pipe looks like it is running high enough to stack models under it; this lets you put a lot more in proximity to it than you'd generally expect with a more conventional layout.
2) Prevents most of the negatives of being in cover 'behind' the pipes from applying since that is a nearly impossible location to put models in with that configuration.
That said, the above wouldn't be enough in the absence of an actual model to compare to for me to not play against someone fielding one. Perhaps if you simply tipped it over on it's side? Because there is no official model for it as of yet, the above are just my thoughts on it; RAW there is currently no reason not to use it.

My precise concerns about it.

I would have no issue, though it's pretty far off from what i plan on doing for mine.
Could always lie it on it's side as a U shaped wall, but it may be too deep for most models to use it.

I think it might be a little too tall to use as a wall if laid on its side. I'll have to check that.

You could model it on a base and add some sheet plastic (corrugated tin-looking stuff) to give it a wall like appearance. That would be pretty easy to do. As a matter of fact, I have a set of those and that is exactly what I'm going to do.

If you got a saw and cut through right across after the pipe bends, just using the top of the "bridge" without the legs, it would be ideal!
