Hi all,

this is the very first time I've used this forum on dakka so this is my very first post. Iv come back to warhammer after a couple of year out but playing fantasy solid. This time i want to play 40k. Iv loved the look of Nids, even when i was playing all them years ago so im going to give it a bash.

Iv purchased the codex and wrote up a 1500 point list which i love the look of (please go easy on me!)

i really love the fact of lictors flying in left, right and centre. Deathleaper looks and sound awesome and who doesn't love a winged hive tyrant? Im sure there's plenty of holes in this list but if you could point me in the right direction and along the lines of this list but still be able to compete at a good level, that would be awesome

Well, some of this is "just me" but...I strongly suggest you avoid double glanding in general, and espesially on expensive dudes like Stealers.

I would buy Toxic for the Tyrant, and likely pay for it by losing anchient enemy....you are fatally short on Synapse, but beutifully don't really need it.

maybe with the points you save on droping the glands (extra glands) you can buy a nice item or a small unit... thats a Lot of Lictors...but I like it! But you might save some points by dropping each brood to 2x that gives you around 180 points with other savings, to get a good unit like maybe some Shrikes? (Winged Synapse)

You'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge when it comes to the slang of dakka. Would you keep toxin sacks on the stealer?

When you say buy toxic for the Tyrant, what do you mean and what would you take yourself?

Would dropping the lictor count and having cut the glands be worth bringing in a good sized unit of warrior, keep them with stealers, there synapse creatures and have a good variety of range weapons

If you like lictors, the Dataslate formations. You can run up to 20 + Leaper that way. (3 forest broods and one Assassin formation)

I'd buy a Toxin sack for the Tyrant, that gives rerolls to wound (works with the Bone swords Insta-kill action) (and lets you wound T8 on 4+)
I'd drop the Adrenals on the Stealers, because they are more likely to benefit from Toxin sacks (rerolls but for Rending claws this time) but if you like Fleet plus Furious charge...lose toxic and save points that way.

I'd buy either Warriors or Shrikes (Warriors with Wings basicly) so they can zoom around where needed...and it gives cool points because they were bred from the Hive Tyrant, who has Wings..

The Stealers don't need Synapse, but benefit from it IMHO.... if you use foot Warriors you might go for Adrenal to keep up (Fleet) or Toxin to fit your "theme" of "Toxic swarm"

I would definitely go for the deathleaper assassin brood from the data slate. That's 5 lictors. And deathleaper. I'd take the adrenal glands off the stealers, keeping toxin so you can reroll your wound rolls for more rending.

Then I might consider some broodlords for those stealers. No frag grenades hurts so the horror is the best way to compensate. It also stacks well with the assassin brood abilities. Drop the other 3 lictors and take a second mawloc (6lictors is still a lot). Or some more stealers. Only 2 squads of troops is a little light for my liking.

All that being said I love the vanguard approach- and have a look at the data slate if you like it too- some good stuff in there.

So this dataslate, is it some sort of side codex that alows you to things in formations for cheaper/ more points? If i had Deathleaper and 5 lictors normally thats 1 HQ choice and 2 elite choices, does this still stand the same of is it compressed into one Elite for more points? Do the point stay the same? (deathleaper - 130, five lictors - 250). Were can i get the dataslate form?

Im liking the idea of shrikes, they seem cool stays in theme with the flyers. But maybe another unit of Stealers would be good, just to fill up the table space and would really like to take that second murloc.

You can download the data slate. Points cost are the same as the codex entries but they take no FOC slots.

Looks like somebody covered the dataslates I like the look of them, but I have not, and may not ever purchase them. They give "formations" that are outside the normal force slot limits....

Most folks seem to dislike Stealers...but I'm not one of them. I use two big blocks of Toxic 'Stealers in my army myself. If you build 4 more you could run 3 broods of 8 and get more Troops without much of a drop off in efectiveness. Brood Lord(s) do seem like a good power boost for 'Stealers at 60 per but they come with "The Horror" baked in, and are Str 5 T 5 super 'Stealers.
