Why do you include a falcon in every single list you make? I also dont feel Kandaras is really doing anything in the list.

Because I love Falcons and regularly need to kill multiwound T4 and AV13.

I don't need Karandras, I was trying to increase my points.

Ok Karandras is about the most nasty character in the game since he is st 8 I 7 ws 7 there is littereally nothing in close combat that can even come close to touching this guy i mean he can take down fricken wraith knights i bet ya dont get rid of him if you have a say. getsome dire avengers I know they are now very pricey but trust me they are well worth it the extra armor and range make for a major difference. I like that you have Scorpions in here because they are super nasty. if you can afford them get Dark reapers they will easily double their point worth via kills. and group your squad of guardians together they are a walking meat shield the more bodies that are their the longer you have your meat shield. Also scrap your Autarch because its crap and you already have a close combat hq get a a farseer and speck him out accordingly, set him up nest to the dark reapers and just buff the crap out of them. With this strategy ive killed CSM, back when they were good, Tau, nids, eldar, you name it it works just test out the list befor you play so you can get a feel for it.

Please check your grammer
Well first off i didnt see the ss squad and thought he was just walking down the field.
And then even after i saw the striking scorpion squad, im still not that impressed. I woudnt find it to hard to kill such a unit, and thats one expensive as crap unit.

Use war walkers. 140 points for 4 shots per turn, and can hide behind the firestorm for 3+ cover.
What do you mean by increase your points?
I would drop him for either a whole new striking scorpion squad, or a farseer and upgrades around the list.

I value durability over damage output...I hate war walkers...except for the fw jump walkers.

I also already said that I'm not sold on karandras as well...

Executing Exarch

The Twilight Zone

Since your going for cheap, what other models do you have to sub in without buying new ones?

I normally avoid saying "you have to take wargear X every time on model y" but the scorpions claw is basically required on an exarch. The biting blade is almost worse than the stock sword, as you lose an attack for being 2 handed. The sabers are OK, but the claw is beyond amazing. If you don't take Karandras, grab monster hunter for the squad.

If you want to sink points,a better, and cheaper phoenix lord would be Fuegan. Paired with a guardian squad he is straight deadly. Use his split fire to double tap a tank while the guardians gun down an infantry squad. He can tank wounds for them or vice versa.

Other good choices would be a serpent for the scorpions, another heavy support choice, maybe troops.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Honestly...not much right now...been waiting until I get my tax return to finally finish out the army...which is just a few weeks out.

-5 dire avengers
-6 dragons including a pike
5 more rangers
-a wide assortment or warlocks and farseers
-and my falcon can be a serpent if necessary...I was think about taking dcannons on the wrath just for the fun.

I also have access to any fort...stronghold allowed.

I am willing to spend some money for necessary units to be even partially competitive...but I'm not hung up on winning.

Fuegan?...I don't hate that...

Another possible route would be to drop Karandras for a farseer and more warlocks. The farseer can camp with the support batteries to guide/prescience them, and throw out other psychic buffs as needed. Keeping your warlord safe with T7 behind the firestorm. Run all the warlocks with spears, so you can have some stealth S9 in each guardian squad. If you roll protect, put that warlock with the batteries to get 2+ saves on the guns. Between that and cover, your gravy.

I know I don't need the D-Cannons...but a list with a Farseer and two warlocks feels like a fun reason to field them. I could get 5 dire avengers or rangers...or if I trim I could get my dragons in.

Just placed first in the tournament I built this list for.

The d cannons were the mvps by far...killed many marines and centurions with them

Scorpions inside a redoubt are an amazing counter assault unit

The falcons transport capacity and s8 ap2 mix...along with big guns never tire...I'll never not take a falcon again.

Nice work on the tournament!

I'm curious, reading your list I would have suggested taking one more troop unit- but clearly you did well anyway. How did you find just having the 3 went- or having such a small ranger squad? My experience of rangers (although I love them) is that a larger squad is needed for anything like reasonable damage output and survivability. Unless of course they just went by unnoticed by your opponent because they were less threatening as a smaller squad?

And also because I couldn't resist:

Ps. @ninjafiredragon,

If you're going to correct someone's post- please spell grammar correctly. It can make you look like a hypocrite...

In all three of my games my opponents had some kind of ranged blasts or deep striking flamers so the snipers just went in the falcon or redoubt most of the time.

My wins were so devastating that I consistently found myself only requiring two troops actually. All three of my games consisted of holding back behind the redoubt and laying down the ranged fire...and then turbo boosting past opponents who I had forced into an aggressive role.

The scouring and big guns also means that I had a 33% chance of having 1-2 more troops in a given game.

I generally think you only need 1 troop per 500 pts in your list.

But forcing opponents into dealing with a redoubt and on dcannons is downright dirty...no one can handle both quickly enough...and that leaves your serpents safe on the board...or in reserve...god bless that autarch.

I don't think you understand (or maybe just didn't read his post) otherwise you wouldn't have posted

Yes you're quite right- apologies. I overlooked the option putting the rangers into the building. A useful tactic as smart missiles et al can delete them very quickly.

How did the hunter do? I'm looking at putting one in my lists as I love the model but have always worried about its fragility.

The hunter as always...is a unit that does exceedingly well as you get more used to it. In my first game I used it to hunt down and kill a warlord who was hiding in the backfield and that's all it did. In game two I can safely say it killed about 600 pts worth of blood angels by itself due to unrelenting focus fire rules...and it never came in in game three because I had the game wrapped up at the bottom of turn two.

If you run a single hunter...alway alway always have an autarch.

...or some kind of reserves manipulation.

The redoubt lets six models fire from it so it's pretty perfect for rangers.
