So, just wondering here about something.

Lets say we have a thread on, say, a new plastic kit from Geedubs. Lets say some more updates come in, a video or what have you. Is it appropriate to hit the report button to request a video or new image be added to the OP, or is that an unreasonable moderator intrusion into the OP's post? Is the feeling that a N&R post belongs to the community and that the OP should have the best info, or that it's the OP's presentation to the community?

I know I have seen previous threads that have had new salient info added to the OP by mods in the past but was wondering if there is any official stance on this.

Also, this is hypothetical, not a backhanded way of asking about a specific thread.

PM the OP with the request first, would be my recommendation, especially if they're actively updating it anyway.

There's no basic problem with people adding information to a thread as long as the general site rules are followed.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I would suggest PMing the owner of the thread and if they are unresponsive to the request after a day or two then you can hit the moderator alert, but make sure you put the page# of the thread where the new stuff is located.

And honestly, while it is nice to have the OP updated with all the pertinent information, most of the time it works fine just updating the thread title to tell what page # of the thread is where the newest bit of info starts being discussed...and for that you can *definitely* alert a moderator to add that info to the thread title (again just clarify what needs to be done in the alert comments section).
