I have been doing warmachine for a small time already and now I have started the retribution. What I would like is general tips, army builds and I would also like to know where can I find how energyfields work.
Thanks for your answers
PS, are there any alternative colour schemes for retribution as painting white is quite a pain?

The Retribution army book as well as Warroom has a detailed description of how the energy fields work.
Basically when you take damage you mark the energy field boxes first before you mark the normal damage grid. You can also, during the Myrmidons activation, spend a focus to regenerate D6 damage points( IIRC) from the energy field as long as your generator system isn't crippled.
The Phoenix has a special rule where it automatically regenerates D6 points to its field each turn.
You can paint your army however you want. There are no rules where you must paint in a certain way. I've seen red, blue, green, silver, orange, and purple used for Retribution.
Check out the PP forums. http://privateerpressforums.com/forum.php They have a Retribution section as well as a painting section. You should find plenty of alternate schemes there. And can ask some people who specifically play Ret.

Templar has described the basic idea of how energy fields work.
Basic builds differ with ret. And thoughts differ Riflemen are a decent starting unit as is the Battle box contents. Kaelyssa is a decent Warlock.
The "Myrmidons" Are middle ground compared to jacks, there ranged weapons are usually integrated so if you loose that system you loose that weapon.

Both are staples of competitive ret play at this point.

I thought they were significantly worse since they released an errata or was I thinking of the mk1 rules?

Everyone keeps saying you get D6 points back to your shield for 1 focus
Is it D6 or D3 points? And can you spend more than 1 focus to to gain more points?

Regular field is D3 shield point back for 1 Focus, only once per turn.
Phoenix Field give D6 points back in the Maintenance Phase.

Phoenix shield regeneration is free, but you can ALSO spend focus for an extra D3. On that particular 'jack. The others will have to do with simply 1 focus -> d3 shield points.
... except for the Vyer 'jacks who are more like normal 'jacks (with the ranged weapons on their shoulders, and as such those weapons can't be disabled) and they don't have shields at all, but are still Myrmidons.

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums. |
