There are some models in 40K that are just not on the sized base they should be.
I'll start it off:
Canoptek Wraiths. They should definitely be on at least a 40mm base, they're so awkward on those tiny bases.
What other base sizes bother you all?

I always felt like Crisis Suits were rather crammed on Terminator bases. When I put them together I always had difficulty posing them in any way that wasn't "standing at attention" since I didn't know what to do with the feet. Of course I have progressed a lot as a hobbyist since I last stuck a XV8 together, so that could have been my inexperience.

Yeah you're right, they seem like smaller than that because they're so dinky compared to the model.
I have to agree with hormagaunts as well, they mean so far forward it is near impossible to make it work without weights.

Crisis suits. They look absolutely stupid crammed into a 40mm base. If you put them on a 60mm base like the FW variants come with it's a much better fit.

I can't stand the Broadside base.
Almost Dreadnaught sized, Dreadnaught base, and Dreadnaught cost. T4. Makes no sense.
But I will agree with Peregrine. The base size for the actual model at 40mm just doesn't work. The model is too broad and any change to the static pose means you're probably going to push past the base.
That and the feet on Crisis suits have given me no end to the hassle. Huge model balancing on it's tip toes. Brilliant.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."
"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

The worst bases are jetbikes - all of them. Either they put them on the regular infantry bases and they become ludicrously top-heavy, or they put them on a clear 40mm, in which case the bike drowns in the base and you can't quite use them like regular non-jetbikes (especially because the bases are circular).

I had a crisis trying to rationalize this to myself the other day, especially since the Forge World XV9 suits are significantly less bulky (they almost look too small on dreadnought bases) and they get T5. 3+ save though. There's really no sense to it.

Prior to the current codex IG heavy weapons teams were a headache. The 60mm base used to contain two distinct models which you were supposed to pretend were based on separate 25mm bases. The present solution might be a little silly but at least the models are actually on the base they're supposed to be on now. Barring collector's range, of course.

I used to work at a GW store. We had a new guy come in with his space marine models from the starter set for a paint lesson. He had them glued with bases upside down!
Worst based models I've seen. That's not even mentioning the big chunks of skin that were stuck to the models in superglue.

Necron Warriors are pretty horrible. Their feet stick off the side most of the time.
Hormagaunts purely because they're on a slotter base and thus you can't counter weigh them easily with a coin like you can with Pink Horrors and so they just fall over all the time.
Canoptek Wraiths are a bit too top heavy on the 40mm base, they should probably be on the be 50mm.
Eldar Jetbikes that are on the 40mm bases look ridiculous. The ones that are on the 20mm are fine as long as you use the short clear stick thing. If you use the long one then you're in a world of hurt.

They are such a pain I put them all in a bag in my closet and haven't even considered them for fun or fluff games.

I have the old metal Raptors sitting in my drawer with the timy metal "flames" elevating them, and the giant heavy metal jump-packs. I love the look of the models but they are IMPOSSIBLE to use because they always fall over. One already broke off his "flame base" and is about to make a trip into the garbage can.
I've had trouble with basing Chaos Spawn, their tiny hoofs don't quite fit and their bodies lean almost an inch and a half over the base, making BTB all impossible once you start adding the arms and tentacles and what not....

Get some split shot sinkers from a fishing supply store. Cut them in half and glue by the foot or if you can make it fit under the stand by the foot.

I find the metal Lord of Change to be a complete pain. Nothing is really balanced at all with the model, it needs some major weights to work.
Metal Zagstruk is also a horrible model to keep from falling over.

I find that Necron Spiders a total pain to keep on their flying base. I started using magnets in the end on most units on flying bases.
The Ghost Arc deserves a mention too. Mine always leaned to port before I magnetized them.
I know the pain of a metal LoC, the entire model is balanced on one leg & has a habit of falling the pieces.

Scourges are pretty bad, yeah.
What I do with top-heavy models like that is instead of a penny, use something weightier. I know a lot of people who do nickles as those are the perfect fit in 25mm bases, but I just use washers. You can get a bag of 20 washers of the right weight and appropriate size for like 3 cents a washer from Wal-Mart or just about anywhere that stocks such things, really.

I can agree with hormagaunts being a pain.
I started off shaving down the underside of the slottabase so I could fit a coin in there. But I found it took too long per model.
In the end I just weighted their bases down with a bunch of rocks, which seems to have done the trick.

I actually glue nickels under the bases (those without slots) of any plastic models that I have trouble keeping upright on slopes(like Kroot), or because of balance issues. Works great.

Am I the only one that doesn't have that problem with his Hormagaunts? I noticed the first time that I put them together, the slot in the base is not in the center, and matches the off center insert on the bottom of the hoof. I glued that puppy in properly and it stays right where I want it. Then again, I suppose I can't claim that anymore, since I am currently cutting every Hormagaunt off it's base and that insert, so that I can glue them onto some nice desert bases I've built. Now, balancing THAT, is a different story, and requires larger amounts of glue than I normally use.
