Hey guys, got bit by the creative bug last night (partially due to watching Pirates of the Caribbean), but am thinking about starting a pirate themed ogre army. I know that it isn't the most original idea but I think it would be fun to do, and the ogre models are fairly easy to do conversions. I also did some looking and found some awesome ogre-pirate models from Titan Forge that I think I might use a few. I would probably start small and eventually make it into a 2500 point list eventually. I already have 6 Bulls that I use for unit fillers, so I might start fiddling around with those to see what I can do.

I think these would be really cool to use as mournfang guys:

And this would be an awesome iron blaster

I know that the gators are vastly different than mournfangs, but I still think that you could make them work.

You could also use these little guys as sabertusks

The range is a bit pricy however (the little gators are cheaper than regular sabertusks tho!), so I probably would not get more than a couple different things and convert up the rest of the regular ogres. Let me know what you guys think about this idea! Thanks

AAG

The first one looks kinda dumb IMHO.

The cannon is okay. And the bottom. I just don't see Ogres sitting on a cold-blooded lizard even if it's big. And they have nothing to do with pirates, who are in the open sea.

Not sure why you quoted that. No one says Maneaters can't be pirates. But a pirate ogre isn't going to be on a crocodile unless he is pirating a beach or river. Pirates rely on hitting fast, getting away, and hiding. And gigantic crocs aren't so hot at that I would think.

well, it's fantasy... and one is a cannon on a crocodile. Training a croc to carry the cannon might have been seen as a great way to move cannons fast and getting away.

I was just pointing out the monster. The croc with the gun is very cool. I said that. The croc that is half-submerged with a giant hoodah on top I'd say not so much.

Every time I see the gator Ogres I think they'd make a fun Cajun/Bayou/Dr. Facilier/Voodoo style theme better than pirates. Actually....

No... my wallet is empty :(
