So I've come up with an army list, im not sure on points so if someone could help me out with that.
The type of list is a footdar army, i particurally like the assorted wraith units.
If i can help it, i would like to do it without any tanks/transports/flyers
This is what i've come up with
HQ
Avatar
Troops
Guardians x15
Guardians x15
Elite
wraithguard x 5
wraithblades x5
Fast Attack
vyper x3
Heavy Support
Wraithknight
War Walkers x3
the idea, is for the war walkers and the wraithguard to sit back and pop everything in range
then the vypers to roll in at the enemy and moving in and around them and create a diversion and hopefully leave enough
space for the guardians and avatar/ wraithblades to roll in and get hot and heavy in the frontlines
with the wraithguard to also sit back and pop... the guardians are really only there to hold the enemy down
as the avatar and wraithblades take down any elite units.
i already have a pack box of guardians.
This is only for a friendly gaming between few people and not competitive as its not very competitive down here (mount gambier, SA, Australia)
please no tank reccomendations and or flyers, stick to the theme... and maybe even change the vypers.. All input is required and also any special rules that would go well with this army.
As i said it is my first army and also which weapons and equipment i should use.

If you're trying to keep all foot, you could dump the Vypers for Swooping Hawks. their Assault 3 lasguns and Haywire grenades make them grade A harassers.
Guardians are worse than terrible without at least some warlocks to grant them conceal. A solid alternative would be Dire Avenger's with Shimmershield for that 5++ inv. for more staying power.
Finally, you've got no AA. My first suggestion would be a Crimson Hunter, but you don't want that, so... you could slap EML's to your War Walkers with Flakk Missles.
Overall, equipment and everything, should like like this
HQ - 205
Khaine - 205
Fast Shot
Troops - 270
1. Dire Avengers
x10
Exarch
Power Weapon/Shimmershield
2. Guardians - 110
Starcannon
Elites - 320
1. Wraithguard - 160
x5
2. Wraithblades - 160
x5
Fast Attack - 116
1. Swooping Hawks - 116
x6
Exarch
Hawk's Talon
Heavy Support - 590
1. Warwalkers - 330
x3
x6 EML's
x6 Flakk
2. WraithKnight - 260
Scatter Laser (for TL)
Total: 1500
Check my math, it's late and this is all from memory.

For the Guardians, the usual weapon is the scatter laser. It provides twin-linking if it hits, allowing all of their shots to be TL as well. Other good choices are the bright lance and the starcannon. However, since it doesn't sound like you will be facing many tanks in your group, I would skip the bright lance. The starcannon is good against 2+ armor, but is more expensive. My recommendation would be the scatter laser.
Since you have 30 of them, I would suggest going 1 group of 20 and 1 group of 10. The group of 20 takes scatter laser and star cannon. Fire the scatter laser first, and if you get a hit, you now have twin-linking for the powerful star cannon. Theyy both shoot 36" range, so are well matched. The group of 10 takes scatter laser for more anti-infantry. Just a thought.
Note: I magnetized my weapons platform base so I can easily change weapons in and out. That allows some experimentation.
For fast attack if you want to get away from the vypers, I would go with Warp Spiders, which are kind of like jump-pack infantry. They are very effective.
If you stay with the vypers (or maybe 1-2 of them), I would suggest scatter lasers on them, allowing twin-linking of the shuriken cannon.
For war walkers, you may consider some bright lances to take on the occasional vehicle or monsterous creature.
You need to get a Codex to cost everything out, but here is what I came up with as an estimate:
Avatar = 195
20x Guardians, Scatter Laser and Star Cannon = 220
10x Guardians, Scatter Laser = 110
Wraithguard = 160
Wraithblades = 160
Vyper x2 with Scatter Laser and Shuriken Cannon = 140
Warp Spider Squad, Exarch with Spinneret Rifle and Fast Shot = 120
Wraithknight = 240
2x War Walkers, 2x Bright Lance Each = 140
Total = 1485
As you can see, there were not enough points to take a 3rd War Walker. You can trade-off some upgrades I suppose, but the ones listed above are pretty basic, I think.
You can save some points on your HQ if you go Farseer or Spiritseer instead of Avatar. The Spiritseer unlocks the Wraiths as troops (scoring units). The Farseer would be great for buffing various units. But, the Avatar model is pretty cool!
You can play around with options to try and optimize further, spending the extra 15 points.

2 excellent answers and i don't know which to go with
what about making 1 vyper and still have the squad of warp spiders?
that way i can squeeze in one more warwalker..
also is it worth me putting in a warlock for conceal??
i like the guardians for their turret they get.. and yes AA would be solved by weapon attachments on the warwalkers
Great help though.
i do have a codex its just a little hard to get my head around.. ( and currently not in my possesion) still learning the rules and really struggling.
i can only do so much by watching youtube video's and reading..
would love to play a match with an expert to learn.
also i have a avatar and i love the model

Sorry, but this is incorrect. Laser Lock only affects the model with the Scatter Laser, not the rest of the unit.
@ OP: if you can fit a Spritseer in, it will make the Wraithguard/blades troops and can also fill the role of a Warlock in a guardian group if needed.

My bad on the TL, sorry.
I still think the scatter laser is a good choice for the guardian platform, however. A Shuriken Cannon is marginally less expensive and still good anti-infantry if you need to shave some points to spend elsewhere.
I saw the other post about not having any anti-air. I agree with that assessment, although warp spiders can be effective if you can get them into range. Not sure if you will have many flyers in your group, though.
I also agree that the guardians are not very tough. I would suggest an Aegis Defense Line with Quad Gun to park the smaller Guardian group behind. That gives them cover and provides anti-air at the same time. The quad gun can also be used against lightly armored vehicles and MCs. The spiritseer I also recommended to unlock the wraiths, and could be parked with the larger Guardian group to buff them and keep them from breaking when they start to take damage.

2) wraithknight can only shoot 2 weapons a turn, so thats pointless.

Birdman wrote: HQ Avatar Troops Guardians x15 Guardians x15 Elite wraithguard x 5 wraithblades x5 Fast Attack vyper x3 Heavy Support Wraithknight War Walkers x3 Looks potentially good footdar list. Couple of things? 1. Why not squads of 20 Guardians with 2 HW's each? 15 is a bit random number. 2. I would drop the Wraithblades. Only useful with Spiritseer buffs. 3. Speaking of which, he would not be a bad addition to the list. Avatar - 205p Fast Shot Spiritseer - 70p Wraithguard - 305p Wave Serpent with TL-Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon and Holo-fields Guardians - 150p x15 with Shuriken Cannon Guardians - 150p x15 with Shuriken Cannon Vypers - 180p each with BL Wraithknight - 240p 1300 points. So with remaining points you can either get 2x5 Warp Spiders or Crimson Hunter. If you find the points you can also squeeze in a squad of three jetbikes. If you wish you can switch the Vypers for WW's. But I don't like both in the same list for some reason. Costs 30 points extra.

Wave Serpents.. nah
Don't want any transports, i know that they are great and it seems like a silly idea but i just want to keep it all foot.
so what about dropping the wave serpent adding my wraithblades in again now that i got the spiritseer
dropping the vyper in exchange for WW (multiple) then adding 5 more to each guardian squad?
not sure if that leaves me much points?z
not keen on jetbikes, they seem weak.. it was a stretch for me to wanna put in those vypers.

Ok, I goofed on the 2 weapons. But why the EML hate? It's the only way I can think of to counter air on foot. Unless you have a better suggestion...

Well whatever makes your boat float.
Let's see:
Avatar
Spiritseer
20 Guardians
20 Guardians
5 Wraithguard
5 Wraithblades
Wraithknight
3 War Walkers
With various uprgades this brings us to about 1450 points.
Could be better, but it's not bad.

mostly cause thats a ton of points (25 to 5) and 6 lances guided=2 hits which is alright, and MUCH cheaper.
defence line also does quite well

@soomemafia
and i know it could be better with Wave serpents and what not.. just like the theme of the army, if it was super competitive which may happen in future i would add at least two to the guard and blades
the only possible thing was to remove one block of guardians and add something else like maybe warp spiders for fast attack or?
Since all the wraith units will make up troop..but again im not sure because im willing to have them as my main casulties.
its not gonna be objectives most of the games will be deathmatches and its against a BA army i believe...
@Will1541
I dont think i will be versing any aircraft. unless you can shoot a drop pod midair? which as far as im aware you cant.

No, but you can intercept units coming in from reserves and deep-striking if you have the interceptor rule. ADL with quad-gun, for example.

Changed my mind about a wave serpent and if i can maybe stick one with the wraithblades
got a few points to play with
*now have currently purchased 5xwraithblades 1x WW 10x Guardians
Would be great if can get some C&C on the wave serpant

Waveserpents should be upgraded as followed :
twin linked scatter laser (for the first 4 strength 6, and to twin link the serpent sheild and shuiken cannon)
shuiken cannon (for 3 more strength 6 shots, making a total of 7, all twinlinked)
Holofields (making the serpents so much more survivable)
And then all other upgrades are optional and have there place, but i prefer just to stick to that^
What you have here is a tank that puts out 7 strength 6 shots, and d6+1 (averaging 4.5) more s7 shots ignore cover. and all of this is twin linked. Add up all those shots and that "transport" is one hell of a gunboat. Not to mention it is extremely hard to kill, with av12 and a 4+ cover just by moving. With the added bonus of 12 transport capacity, and for the measly price of 145 points. Totally worth it.
