chains swords and bolt pistols for at least half (alabative wounds and such) at least one thunderhammer and relic blade (bolth with storm sheilds) and the last three with 2 power swords and one axe (and spread some plasma pistols arround) (this is all just a guess, id say some good all around, without too much stuff, and waht looks fluffy

I like 4 stormshields, meltabombs, and a couple of power axes.

I run mine with a couple of stormshields and nothing else. When I use Salamanders chapter tactics, I give the sgt a storm shield and a power fist (since it's mastercrafted). I think it's a mistake to give them too much equipment, they're fragile.

I've been messing around with a Beatstick Chapter Master to tank hits then break off. It'll be a 10x Man Vanguard Vet Squad w/ 2x TH, 1x Power Axe, 1x Maul

I wish you could make them scoring as it would be fantastic, however I guess we can't have everything we want. I do think a few SS would be good to soak up some Ap3/2. And yes a couple axes with the sergeant kitted out with a fist and ss would be a solid combo. Plasma pistols are too expensive IMO.

My completely untested, unpainted, assembled w/magnets if I’m wrong, theory-crafted load for the 5 I have is:

w/ jump packs (magnetized)
Sarge - LC/SS
One - Power axe/SS
One - BP/CCW, meltabomb
Two - BP/CCW (basic)

If I went for a larger squad I might spring for the powerfist. He’s a lot of points, but can hide better in a large squad. The rest would just be basic BP/CCW guys, maybe with a few more melta bombs.

50% melta bombs for smashing MCs and vehicles.

With blood angels I'm tempted to run them as barebones as possible, pick something to assault that you'll kill anyway and kill it.

We're watching you... scum.

Go really crazy and give each veteran a jump pack, a plasma pistol and a graviton pistol.

Pew pew pew!

I trie the jump pack dual pistols it was fun but not effective since they came in killed a unit got shot to pieces and couldn't finish off a tac squad in combat lol

Well, who would expect it to be effective? It's silly.

Fun, though.

Actually, melta bomb for all men makes them pretty effective vs MCs. It's not completely budget-breaking either. Much cheaper than fancy pistols.

Yeah, but that's just not as fun as flying cowboy marines.

They're scoring if you use Fire Hawks chapter tactics off Forgeworld. Free to download supplement in their downloads section.

It's probably the most effective jump pack tactics. Then again, some people throw a hissy fit if you dare use Forgeworld rules on them, despite Fire Hawks tactics being free to download and while good, are hardly overpowered because you're most likely using units otherwise considered a waste of points by any competitive player. Plus, everything they can do would have been totally legal in 4th ed!

This. Taking only melta bombs for every member of the unit except maybe the sarge. That way they can charge anything out of the gate. It's almost a 200 point throwaway squad but they have the capability of destroying any vehicle, hurting or killing any monstrous creature or killing some squishy fire support unit (can anyone say Tau Pathfinders?) and being a nuisance/threat the whole game.

Don't throw them on tau on their own though. Tau are pretty capable of downing 5-7 meq on overwatch.

Is there any value in the storm shield?
Some way to increase their durability?

Melta bombs and SS seem like a hard counter to most MCs.

It is. It's a good combination. But no way to increase their durability to regular fire unfortunately.

What about an HQ with a 2+ save to tank small arms?
