Hi Members,
There's a 5 round, 1000 point tournament coming up this weekend at my local store. Standard battles from rule book. My main guys are the Dark Eldar and Black Templars but I thought I'd resurrect my old Necrons for one last time. FYI I have the latest Necron Codex but none of their new models. Besides what's on this list, I also have plenty of Destroyers and Heavy Destroyers, Scarabs, Wraiths (old style) Immortals, Spyders and Flayed ones. No barges, scythes, arks or other new stuff from the past 6-7 years.

So here's my 1000 point for review. (nothing special)

Lord with Orb and warscythe (150 points)
20 Warriors - lord goes here (260 points)
15 warriors (195 points)
15 Warriors (195 points)
Monolith (200 points)

Total 1000 points. What do you think?

Now as an alternative, I drop 5 warriors from each of the 15 man units and add 2 heavy destroyers. Just for some long range shooting power is case some guy brings a couple of landraiders.
What do you think of this?

Thanks, Sandy

Monoliths are fun (and one of my favorite models) but consider swapping it out for some wraiths rather than heavy destroyers.

Wraiths are a great harassing unit and amazing at tying up or killing an opposing scoring unit .

And a second lordling with a res orb never hurt anyone

... assuming you meant OVERlord.
But even then, if all he's got is a Warscythe and a ResOrb, that should only come out to 130 points.
Is he packing something else that you haven't listed? (if not, I'd say the first thing you should get with with the left over points is a Sempiternal Weave).

If you're gonna use Destroyers, just stick to a unit of 5 regular variety. They'll be able to remove one TAC squad of marines every turn.

You might not have models for them, but would you be opposed to using Crypteks? (most people just use conversions anyway, as the official model GW makes is garbage).
If you'd be alright with it, I'd suggest you make a Royal Court of 1 Harbinger of Despair (with Veil of Darkness and Nightmare Shroud) and 2 Harbingers of the Storm. For 120 points, this unit will reliably get first turn-first blood, as long as your opponent is using vehicles (yes, even against Landraiders).
Some of the other Harbingers might be worth considering, too. Particular attention should be paid to the Destruction type.
