Hey there Dakkanauts. I'm starting up Menoth, I just bought the 2-player battle box and I am looking to expand on my forces. I would love to run as many Cinerators and Bastions as possible as well as a couple heavy jacks. I am having a lot of trouble picking a good caster to support that list or figure out if that would even be playable. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

PKreoss is your best bet for those units. Before I suggest a list may I ask how many Warjacks you want to run.

Ideally 2-3 I would really like to take the Sanctifier and a Vanquisher

A pretty popular list with Cinerators and Bastions uses the High Reclaimer, taking advantage of his clouds to protect the heavy infantry while they advance.

I don't like the reclaimer simply because he needs solos to provide cmd.

Have you tried battle box games yet?

What point levels are you looking at?

50-75 pts, I've played a couple games with the battle boxes in the past but nothing beyond that.

Very impressive to be honest. But Relznik is a little low on focus and won't buff your Cinerators and Bastions as much as other Warcasters

If you want to run the medium based infantry (and I suggest Bastions over Cinerators by a long, long margin), then the best bet for a caster is either Vice Scrutator Vindictus or the Harbinger of Menoth.

Both answer their glaring weakness, lack of speed.

If Reznik is your man as a warcaster, then he typically prefers a heavy battlegroup with just enough infantry to get in the way (as he does nothing for them personally).

Also try checking here, which is a compilation of various Menoth tactica articles, and see what conclusions you come up with:

The best caster for Heavy Infantry in Menoth, and the only one who makes Cinerators playable, is Vindictus.

His spell True Path fixes their slow speed and gives them Pathfinder. You can run a list with 2 units of Bastions and 2 of Cinerators. But you're only running the Cinerators because Bastions are FA2. If you had the option you'd run 4 units of Bastions.

But Cinerators aren't horrible, they're just a bad value when Bastions cost the same.

Here is a 50 point Vindictus list I've always wanted to run because it looks decent on paper.

Vindictus
-Reckoner
-Vanquisher

min Choir
max Bastions
max Bastions
max Cinerators
max Cinerators

Bastion Seneschal
Bastion Seneschal

I wouldn't recommend a Sanctifier in this list because of the lack of bodies(and souls) for him to collect from.

All Exemplar are Fearless standard, plus they have great command standard.

You only need Commander solos when you're using non-fearless troops like TFG or Zealots. And most of the Commander solos are Exemplar themselves.

Zealots are fearless with UA and TFG may as well be fearless with their flag around. As Menoth, you generally have a low chance of fear affecting you. I seem to have failed every minute chance it has come up as of late, but it's still generally low.

I do not like this list. Reznik can be a jack caster, but he only has 6 focus. The Sanctifier relied on souls to fuel it and you're fielding few infantry that are tough to kill. It by far prefers flameguard and zealots as they can die in droves. Scourge is cool, but his abilities have never been pivitol to his role in my games. Avatar is fine always, but a vassal floating would just make him better. With the points saved from your jacks, you could buy a full unit of exemplar errants with UA and solo, exemplar knights and wracks. I think that would help your list a lot,

Reznik prefers infantry screens that can 'take care of themselves'. Errants require a buff of some sort (DEF or ARM, preferably both like Defender's Ward) to really be an efficient use of points. TFG and Zealots and Daughters are all better bets. Zealots give you a turn of immunity to most damage and TFG give you better screening and the ability to spike ARM up for one turn (but are more susceptible to infantry hate like Bile Thralls, fire, corrosion). Zealots can make themselves untargetable by spells whenever they want and their bombs can really hurt. Daughters have great DEF, but few bodies on the field.

A commonly styled Reznik list looks like this:

System: Warmachine
Faction: Protectorate of Menoth
Casters: 1/1
Points: 50/50
High Executioner Servath Reznik (*6pts)
* Reckoner (8pts)
* Reckoner (8pts)
* Vanquisher (8pts)
* Hierophant (2pts)
Avatar of Menoth (11pts)
Choir of Menoth (Leader and 5 Grunts) (3pts)
Holy Zealots (Leader and 9 Grunts) (6pts)
* Holy Zealot Monolith Bearer (2pts)
Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist (2pts)
The Wrack (3 wracks) (1pts)
Vassal Mechanik (1pts)
Vassal of Menoth (2pts)
Vassal of Menoth (2pts)

Iron Aggression goes on the Avatar. If you replace the Zealots with TFG (very viable option), then you can Ignite them, otherwise you hold onto it so you can camp. Zealots run first turn, pray Spell Ward. Jacks run up behind them. Choir typically uses "No Shooting" on the first couple of turns. Gorman keeps a cloud up in front of Reznik while angling to drop a rust bomb or blind when it's most opportune on the enemy.

Avatar is more about protection and is a late game delivery. Don't run him up ahead as the enemy will gladly trade pieces for him. Instead hold him back, use Gaze to keep things away from Reznik, and then charge in when the enemy has no answers after the Avatar has killed its target. Use the Reckoners and Vanquisher to attrition down enemy units and heavies, then initiate piece trades with the Reckoners.

For Reznik, always camp as much as you can. Don't waste Focus and Perdition is usually a trap.

Menoths ability to rum jacks is mostly external to the casters so all of them can run jacks well. The above casters are our most competitive casters though.
