40k 4x8 @ Fans of Gaming Convention on May 31st.

So AdeptiCon is bearing down on us like freight train! Taking a break and thought I would at least get this post AdeptiCon event out there. Some individuals in my area have been running some well attended Game Days the last few years. They are branching out and launching a convention called Fans of Gaming. They asked and I have agreed to run a 40K event at the show!

Fans of Gaming Convention aka “ FoGCon “ will be held May 30th through June 1st. The 40K event will be held on Saturday, May 31st. Currently have space for 30 players. Day pass for the convention is 10.00 dollars and weekend pass is 20.00. 20% of the convention gate will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. Entry into the tournament will require a 10.00 purchase be made from the vendor hall.

Rules Summary:
• Armies will consist of 1850 points
• 3 games with 2:45 minute round times
• Playing surface will be 4x8
• 0 - 1 Forge world allowed
• Asset cards will be used
• Painting required

With AdeptiCon in the rear view mirror ..and Fogcon coming up

It was great seeing you at AdeptiCon and I am committed to making it back next year if at all possible

One question about the rules for this event, I see that you have LOD and Inquisition taking up the Allies slot, but I don't see Knights listed there. Is the idea that people could take an ally and knights, but not an ally and inquisition?

Also, any thoughts on possibly allowing a dataslate formation taking the allied slot for future events? I'm a tyranid player, and while I know everyone's hot for Skyblight, I'd love to be able to try out either a Bioblast Node or a Living Artillery Node at an event (they just fit the theme of my army better and what I want to model and field)

Definitely great to meet you and so glad you could make it to the show. Certainly crazy but sort of returning to my roots, and helping out my local play area with a small event in the spirit that we used to run things years ago. Growing up, I played 40k on a 4x8. Additionally, Spring Offensive in my area was a big deal, and one of the longest running conventions in the country. As sometimes happens they hit some hard times organizationally. A number of the folks that have been involved with Spring Offensive are launching FoGCon after having some success running one shot game day events.

I wouldn't look to hard at these rules as some sort of barometer for what we might allow in the future. It is pretty fast and loose. I could go either way with the Knights. But as I am fully expecting a new edition and I am trying real hard to not expend to much energy getting worked up about formats at the moment. I certainly have my opinions just think that this will all have to be re-evaluated soon enough. I fully get that some TO's need to hash it out due to the timing of events, but there will be time enough for that for us.

And just probing, you can keep your cards close to your vest (or maybe they're still in the deck, yet to be dealt ). That is a great point about 7th ed, too.

If we hit 24 players both the new Forge world Horus Heresy books will be included in the prize raffle.

If you have wanted a chance to get into Horus Heresy gaming, these two books make it a lot more accessible.

@Luke - Hope you make it. When they asked if I would consider running something at FogCon, I said sure before I knew the date, and as luck would have it .. it lands on May 31st and my 4th sons 2nd birthday! So I am treading water with the significant other at the moment.


@RiTides - Definitely, going to put 6th edition to bed!

I'll have to remember this for next year. Peking is only a couple hours south. Maybe a bit more newbie friendly then Adepticon anyways. Not that I have time to to do any gaming at Adepticon, but...

Late add: Will also be setting up AdeptiCon Titanicus on Sunday and pushing some 28mm Titans about.
