Hi there guys. I don't really post much here but I thought I would chronicle the building of my Killzone themed army.

The army is to be based during the era encompassing Killzone 2-3 and probably a bit of Liberation and a little overlap from Shadowfall and the first installment as well.
The plan is to have 3 forces, allowing for the major aspects of the Helghan Empire. My initial thoughts also have the forces divided between Space Marines, Tau, and Imperial Guard to allow for some very specific things to be fielded (more on that later). I might end up revising this and will likely make a lot of mistakes. I am also not interested in building a WAAC list or morphing this into a netlist hellchild.. it's intended to be a labor of love and an exercise in the hobby aspect of miniature wargaming. That said, I am definitely open to feedback and ideas! There will be a lot of sculpting, kitbashing, converting, and likely an Overlord scratchbuild.. so stay tuned!

First up, my Shock Trooper conversions. These are going to be sergeants in infantry squads. They will likely be leading troops based on KZ2 Assault Troops.
Legs are Cadian based with torsos, arms, and heads from Mad Robot and guns from Dreamforge Eisenkern.

Thanks for looking, more to come

Thanks djphranq!
I will likely wait until their squads are built to try and keep a sense of cohesion. I've ordered test bits to build most of the stuff I want to include. While I wait I'll probably start on my Stahl conversion or some of the aircraft. I'm not entirely sure yet.

Glad this is getting some good feedback.

I have been working on my counts-as Sentinels.. those will be based on the spider drone sentry thing from Shadowfall. Got some work done on a few other things as well and other news. Will be updating with pictures tomorrow.

Also got some more parts ordered so I can build my sample troops for standard assault infantry and some bits for either Shock Troops or Hazmat.. depending on how it looks when I put it together.. and some Wargames Factory guys to convert to riflemen. More to come on all of that

Soo..
Lots of stuff got in the way of progress.. including other progress.. towards a different army/armies.. I've been slowly accumulating the stuff I need.. which has been a weird process because I get some things in and then I'm like "but wait.. I could use this for that instead!" or I get it in and see it and it isn't what I thought or it's a little different or whatever.. anyway.. here's a picture of most of the components that are going to go into this as it progresses..

Upper Left is a spider drone from Ramshackle Games.. it will have a machine gun more similar to the one in Killzone:Shadowfall when everything is said and done.. but until then I'm just going to keep the weapon it came with in place. There will be 3 which will likely run as armored sentinels.. Not sure I'll actually run all 3 but I wanted to make sure the option was there.
The two flying things in the back are Zyklone Drones from Hi-Tech minis. I'll be adding little wings to them (you can see them on the matt around their bases) and other do-dads and when I figure out what I'm going to do for basing I'll put them on something more substantial.. those 25's keep falling over and it's a bit nerve-wracking.

A lot of the stuff in the mid and foreground is an assortment of bits from Mad Robot, Victoria Miniatures, MaxMini, Heresy, Pig-Iron Productions, and some guns in the right foreground from Anvil Industries. I'm trying to keep the scale closer to actual 1/48.. which is proving to be difficult since everyone bulks out their heroic stuff :/ You can see in the midground though that I have a Reaper model which I'll be sculpting a face onto for use as Stahl.. and behind him is Radec (Rommel-X from Kabuki). The Eisenkern from Dreamforge will be making an appearance but I'll be making some modifications in the way of swaps.

I will be adding some Wargames Factory Shock Troops when they come in and there are more things I'll have to order later on. I've also got a pre-order on Mad Robots' really cool Danamian stuff that'll provide some really nice arms for some KZ2 style Commandos.

Quick update.. I got a few test models for each unit built..I'm fairly happy with most of it.
I can't find a rear shot of a KZ2 pyro trooper so I'm stuck on that.
I also hit a snag that will require a large order to fix.. so there are a few hangups. Biggest of all is the new IG codex being right on the horizon.. so.. I'll probably still build some of the basic guys while I wait for the new release.. but I am not going to be pushing too hard for fear of wasting effort and money on something that might get phased out.

I'll break out the good camera and get some pictures of those test models up in the meantime.

Lots of pictures. This will give you an idea of what a lot of my basic units will look like when the whole thing is done. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't show the cool respirator thing on the Elites but there will be a few variations of those guys so you'll see it eventually FYI - The bases are just temporary.. I will prime and paint on those and transfer to scenic bases after the fact.

First up are the KZ1 style Elites. This will be the brunt of my force.

Next up are the KZ1/2 Elite Shock. They're a little bit of a mashup between the two styles. They will mostly be rocking shotguns.. one has his the other doesn't for painting reasons.

Finally we have the iconic Assault Infantry. This guy was a bear to make but I have ideas to streamline that process a bit.

Wait.. what's that?

It's ISA scum!!!!!

Open fire!!!

I'm glad Echo There will be more modeled soon but like I said, getting the pewter hoses to play nice is going to require a rethink on my part.

Assault Infantry Rocks, what parts were used?

Thanks livanbard
Parts breakdown
Master-crafted miniatures - Hellmask head
Dragonforge Pewter hose (smallest diameter)
Maxmini Combat Torso (reversed and modified to fit backwards)
Maxmini Combat Legs (will probably swap to regular fatigues for the others as I love these legs but they are needed for the Hazmat troopers when the other parts get here).
MaxRobot Fatigue Arms
Heresy Assault Rifle
2nd Edition Plastic Orc Accessory pouch (I only have a few of these so I'll be using some Victoria Mini pouches for the others)
Dreamforge Eisenkern Backpack (kinda optional but it fits well and goes with the look)
1 Space Marine pouch cut off of the little strip of 3 from a Tactical Squad sprue.

Let me know if you have any questions.. the build for that guy was an hour plus putty time. Another place for good Assault bodies would be Werewoolf Miniatures.. they just released some guys that would be a good fit.

Thanks, I must try that conversion now hehe. Of course modified by my needs but heavily similar.

@livanbard - sounds cool

Here I have a shot of upper management. Stahl is from a new Reaper mini with a headswap from a Heresy mini and lapels and a tie from yours truly. Radec is from Kabuki pretty much stock except I trimmed off his medal.

So, it's been a while.

I have accumulated enough stuff to do a pretty big army. I have to hold off on a lot of the vehicles I wanted to do but I'll still be able to squeeze a few recognizable pieces of armor in before it's done.

So.. I don't really have pictures.. at least not any from my own hand. However, these are now on my list

I also got in my hard plastics from Deadzone which will feature my Ambush troops (I think that's what knife stabby face guys are called). Additionally, Dreamforge released their heavy guys.. which is one of the other things I was waiting for before I could move forward.. they will serve as the big.. uh.. bulky machine gun guys.. wow I used to know all the actual names for this stuff.

To top it off, Anvil Industries is offering the miniguns from their drones separately so I can finally put actual miniguns on top of the spider drones.

The major things that don't currently exist that I had hoped to have in this army are the drop ship that Antenociti claimed they were going to make :/ and maybe some kind of walker thing like those weird cat walkers that transport guys.
I have a PS4 now but I still haven't played Shadowfall.. I'm hesitant to because I feel like it'll make me want to scrap this and do all Shadowfall units.. (yeah, the spider mobile scan unit is technically from Shadowfall.. I know).

Anyway.. if anyone else wants to give those jumppacks a try here is where I'm going to buy mine.

This is pretty cool! What else do you have planned?

Sorry, I just saw your reply.
The main force will have:
A hover tank like we've seen in KZ 1 and a few other places
ATAC style drones that I'm having to build on top of some Hi-Tech mini drones.
Hover bikes like the ones seen in KZ1
A strike fighter which I believe appeared in the PSP game (the only one I don't have).
Assault Drones (the big walker) from KZ Shadowfall
Jump infantry as shown with the packs like in KZ3

I have almost all of this already. I'll probably be switching the bikes over to the Mantic bikes from Deadzone Infestation instead of the really large Viper 1 BSG stand in I had planned. If Dreamforge does their flying STuG it will be basis for the hover APC from KZ3, which I favor over the older one with grav pods.

A lot of this will be really fiddly conversion work so it's been dragging along. I'm moving soon too, so a lot of my stuff is packed up until then.

Those Shapeway jump packs are extremely fiddly because they're broken down into tiny components. The detail is decent enough though.

I got in some more Ramshackle stuff.. it's got the typical problems but offers a few options I didn't previously have.

It'll be a few months before I'm cranking out models for this again, but I am still accumulating things when I see them
