It's good to see new plastic kits coming out from SNK's Metal Slug franchise.

(Meng makes the WWT chibi kits so this might mean they're going to be doing metal slug too, but i'm not certain...… Whoever ends up behind the kits I want them both for my chibi collection, and potentially as conversion fodder for Grotz & Orkz

Subject: Gundam, Mecha and other SF Kits for possible use in 40K.
Anyone seen these, plastic modular hangers for Gundam/Transformers etc. There are several out there. I got some in Hong Kong years ago but it looks like they've been upping their game.
Ok so I picked up some of Mig's mecha painting guides in the black friday sale and after reading them decided to get a Gundam kit to try out some of the techniques.
I never really got into the show and know nothing about gunpla so after 5min research into the grades I did what every modern shopper does and hit up amazon.
Based purely on looks and price I ended up with RG 1/144 Tallgeese for £24, not sure what I was expecting for that price but going to be honest it was not a dozen sprues of coloured plastic that clips together better than GW stuff glues together that will make a Riptide proxy.
Very happy and now looking for more of the RG kits to pick up in the new year.
Also as an aside in one of the MIG books they build the 40k orc bomber kit and describe it as " GW produce crude and relatively featureless kits with poor fit and execution, that can be saved with a lot of work if you like the chaotic aesthetic" lol jewel like objects indeed.
Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

Thats not really a surprise, Bandai have probably invested more money into their plastic injection molding technology than GW make in a year and the RG line is probably the epitome of that, and they can do this because Gundam is billion dollar per year franchise.
I feel that that MIG comparison is a bit unfair though. Bandai are building display pieces that you can have a bit of fun with in their posing and the various features help with that, GW are making models that are to be used in games and require a certain level of robustness.

But than GW always claims certain things and want to be seen as the Luxury Product among Fantasy and SciFi Miniatures that can be used for gaming too.
Comparing them with deticated display models they lose in every aspect.
So if people do not play with those models in the first place they are not worth the money as you can get better stuff if you just like building/painting and want to put it in the shelf.

If you're thinking of the Mobile Suit in Action toys from about a decade ago, don't bother. They're mostly a rubbery PVC that does not take paints well.
If you're going to go the route of using Gundam stuff in 40k, use the model kits.

Check out the RG Sinanju Kit sometime. The box is like double the size of the regular boxes. The gold trim is molded that way, not painted after the fact for the box. Unfortunately mine is still sitting the the box, with alot of other Gunpla needing to be built.

just poked my head into this thread looking for alternate models for my tau idea, primarily riptides and stormsurges...
and im utterly blown away by some of the potentials in here. especially the 1/144 scale Tieren Ground Type. prices i can definately enjoy far more, and good looks at that!
I've never been all that big on the mech genre, preferring fantasy normally, but im enjoying these models a LOT more than what id have them stand in for, and anything that reminds me of Zaku models with that one eye? even better! please do keep this up folks!

Hobby Link Japan has two potentially useful kits up for a February release:

No dimensions are listed on the HLJ site yet, but whilst one of these has no scale listed but the other is stated to be 1/100, so maybe they both are? 1/100 is probably too small for 40K, but I suppose it depends how big the "real" vehicle is.
Those trucks were huge in the movie, so I expect these to be quite large, too. 1/100 though is 15mm, so probably not going to work too well with 40k.
Interestingly, if you do happen to want one of those trucks and you are a 15mm gamer, there is a cheaper, probably better scaled option. Mech Fan Toys, a Chinese toy company that makes knockoffs of other 3rd party unofficial Transformers, Takara's Diaclone, and their own original Transformer and Diaclone compatible toys just so happens to have a Diaclone compatible toy of that truck coming out. It's scaled down to better fit the toys and has a lot of play features, including functioning as the legs to an upcoming giant robot. It's also likely to cost significantly less.
Round 2 officially announced the Galileo Shuttle durring a podcast today (January 31, 2020). The kit will be 1:32 and about 11 inches long. It will not have an interior, but they hope to offer something special, such as some resin figures.
They also showed a new test shot of the upcoming 1:1000 scale Enterprise from Star Trek Discovery. The kit will be about 18 inches and is designed to be lighted. There will be a separate light kit.

And we also got to see the Eagle II with the lab pod. This is a big 22 inch kit.
The pod cast was hosted by Jamie Hood. He mentioned they may do another large Trek kit in the future, but it would be 2021 or 2022 before that happened. Also in development is another 1:1000 scale Trek kit, but it was too early to show. That may slip to 2021. Jamie wants to do more pod casts in the future.

I am a big fan of boxy shuttles, and at 11" the Galileo might be big enough to convert to a Rhino/Chimera carrier. Oh happy day!
