Why aren't we doing this?

I watched this chick (maybe a dude? sorry dakka) running four trukkz all loaded with boarding planks make a joke out of your typical run of the mill small list eldar player and his serpents. I mean we move twelve inches and deploy this thing.. I'm happy to have a nob on board the trukk boyz group again and I want to do this. Why not?

Did I get something wrong? The shield doesn't stop melee poundings right?

I gotta know because this guy is your typical run of the mill "I field gray Eldar" player and we have a league coming up in late March and I want to run assault in 6th ed.. Is this what I need?

Yeah, the Reinforced Ram on Trukks allows Ramming and counts as AV12 for Death or Glory. A little Red Paint and you have 25" mobility Turn 1 and a 15" threat range Turn 2.

Can you use a boarding plank after flat out? Because, that would be insane.

Multiple units to hem the elusive Serpent. It really is hard to do when someone sneezing on the other side of the store will kill a Trukk.

Targetting priorities can confuse the order of fire a lot. And its a dice game on a limited playing field. Serpents can only run for a round. After that, where can they go and still fire that the trukks cant reach?

There's a reason why truck rushes stopped being viable in 6 ed. Making every 10-10-10 opentopped vehicle cost extra 5 pts is not really a great idea. And it's hard to see this working vs serpents that can easilly avoid you for first 2 turns. If you're flat-out rushing, you're loosing 3-4 trucks per turn in 1500+ games. Even with KFF. However, if you get void shields, it suddenly becomes an awesome tactix.

I've considered running boarding planks just so I wouldn't have to disembark. In the end I just decided to disembark and chance the charge. If you run Trukks then you most certainly need to run massive amounts to force redundancy. Plus having six troops is never a bad thing.

I can see the boarding planks on wagons with deffrollas being really useful. Sure they arent fast vehicles, but with av14 and 4 HP they are alot more durable. And then with the ram you get the d6 str10 hits.
