Hey folks

I've had a unit of Skitarii on the back burner for a while now but am in two minds as to how they should look

with robes?

or legs?

The robes would be the slightly easier option (from the Empire Flagellant kit) whereas the legs involve a bit more work (Tau fire warrior/Necron warrior/Greenstuff combo!)

What say thee?

Robes, the legs make them look like Cobra soldiers out go GI joe.

The robes make them look Skitarii like…

So, Robes.

Please come and look at my new 40k project blog!, following/subscribing helps a lot, along with advice and thoughts!

I vote robes too, and would say that's easily one of the best looking skittari conversions I've ever seen.

Why must I always choose beween certain death and probable death.

The legs looks very interesting, but the robe is a classical and authentic choice, so I would go... both. A tabard-like robe or just a long rag between the legs will give a nice AdMech feel and won't hide the legs at the same time.
Though the first one, in the skirt, looks very good too.

Personally, I would go with a sort of short robes that expose the legs a bit. Some greatcoat trooper bits might be good, for example Wargames Factory has these Shock Troopers: http://www.wargamesfactory.com/webstore/alien-suns/shock-troops-sci-fi-greatcoat-troopers

Now that I think about it, my personal recipe for some Skitarii would be those WGF Shock Troops combined with some Anvil heads and bionics.

Robes for me, fits the aesthetic better.

So the popular consensus is robes

Thanks guys, we'll go with the established Skitarii look then I think

That made me laugh Archie, though it wasn't the look I was going for I think you're right, the legs are possibly a bit too sci fi looking for grim-dark AdMech. It probably also didn't help that I showed the Skitarii upper body with the Tau-legs-taking-a-standing-dump pose!

I vote robes too, and would say that's easily one of the best looking skittari conversions I've ever seen.

Thanks Crystal-Maze! The head and torso is from Blight Wheel, the arms from Anvil Industries and the weapon is from Curious Constructs

A tabard-like robe or just a long rag between the legs will give a nice AdMech feel and won't hide the legs at the same time.

Hi ishkatar! Yes that would have been the ideal look, a mix of robes and exposed bionics, care to cast up something for me?! Maybe something to match this fine looking fellow

Thanks prowla, though I have these guys already to proxy as Imperial Guard (my 43rd Gustavian regiment), there's some pics in my gallery, yet another project that has fallen by the wayside!

Robes for me, fits the aesthetic better.

And thank you Paradigm, as the Omnisiah wills it then so it shall be!

I had planned only to make up a small squad to act as a bodyguard for my enginseer, using IG veteran rules (maybe there'll be some new doctrines rules in the new codex that'll enable Guard players to field 'counts as' Skitarii) but I think I may add a few gun servitors, tech adepts and constructs to this fledgling force, i'll use this thread for future updates, watch this space!

What are the rest of the pieces you used for this? It looks great! And I would vote skirt as well.

Hey, pal!
We can discuss a commission
By the way, I've started to work on a new AdMech-esque fella, pretty much close in style with my first one and he will have the rags between the exposed mechanical legs. Well, started... I'm still struggling with the scetch

A great conversion work on the weapon. I haven't even thought that way. Looks very cool!
May I repost this picture in my blog here on Dakka with the link on your profile, of course?

Consider me interested, I'd love to see what you have planned!

Yes certainly repost my pic, though I'm afraid my crappy photo doesn't do your awesome model any justice, his head and palm-mounted energy weapon (one of my favourite features) are slightly out of focus, doh!

I do like the way his chainblade turned out, I'll just count it as a bog standard CCW, and his palm weapon as a Master Crafted laspistol maybe. I've just got some metal energy cables from Dragonforge to link the chainblade to his body (they'll disappear up into his armpit) and give him a proper base and he's good to go!

@Sledgio; Cheers, glad you like him, the head and torso are from Blight Wheel Miniatures

And his weapon is a heavy laser rifle from Curious Constructs

Cheers!
I've posted your model in my P&M thread.
The pic is okay to show the conversion idea and that's what it's all about
