Subject: The Spire: Tyranids - 1850 Points

The idea is that I place the Bastion just inside my deployment zone, have the Zoanthropes up top manning the Lascannon and the Venomthrope inside the Bastion giving the Zoanthropes a 2+ cover save and adding 2 to the save of everything around the Bastion. The gaunts and Biovores would stay in my back field to provide support while the FMCs act as the heavy hitters. I can actually go after objectives with the Gargoyles and hold some with the gaunts. 5 objective grabbing units (3 of witch that have ridiculously awesome rules for objective grabbing) and 6 FMCs means that I have a lot of flexibility in what I want to do. Along with the large aerial denial conglomeration that is the Spire.

This is the dirtiest list I've ever seen. Is this even Legal? I would hide those gaunts like jews in the floorboards.

not only are they scoring but if the objective would normally be contested it goes to tyranids if the gargoyles are there.

Depends on dataslates being accepted. Quite a few TO's and gaming groups that do not allow them.

How do you get three HQs?
The troops feel thin but I guess that is the name of the game when it comes to Nids.

The formation basically means anything you take becomes non-inclusive to the FOC.

But seriously, it's about damn time they gave 'Nids the ability to bring da cheese. Every other army out there has been able to bring 3 HQs ever since 6th dropped.
As for the list, it looks pretty damn good.
Scoring gargoyles? Uhh yes please. They were good enough as extremely mobile screens/tarpits, all the better that they can score. (what are the rules for their objective grabbing that you mentioned?)
5 FMCs is never a bad thing.
Bastion has proven solid for nids.

He's using a formation that includes a Flyrant, x2 Harpies, x1 Crone, 3 x10 Gargoyles Squads. These don't take up force org slots. Also the Gargoyles are scoring even if the objective is being contested.

My group banned formations and the tourneys I've been to so far have also banned them so it makes me sad.
