Greetings all! As the titles says I'm quite new to the scene. I've bought a box of Uruk-hai warriors and the Fallen Realms codex. The rulebook is next on my list. Any suggestions on what I should buy next?
I was considering a box of crossbows and Lurtz and possibly a banner. I was thinking about mass spamming Uruk-hai.

Do you know people who play LOTR at your FLGS? I just ask because sadly this game is dieing ever so slowly......to bad because I have a bunch of guys haha

I would definatly pick up Lurtz and a box or two of crossbowmen but they are pricey to buy so you might want to buy some scouts and use the bowmen as crossbowmen. I like the Warg riders myself but people may disagree.

GET A TROLL.....I think they wreck units and are awesome models too (I use my cave troll model but the Isengard Troll model is a much better model)
Also depending on how many points you intend to play Suraun is a pretty solid choice in my opinion.

Good Luck with building your army though!

Still in reserve.

Pack xbows and as many bad-boys with shields supported as pikes as you can. Uruk-hai captains are cheap for named heroes (Ugluk, Vrasku, Lurtz) so take them and skip the banner for more Uruks. I'd highly recommend some Uruk scoots upgraded to Marauders (Don't forget to take shields!) with Mauher, they come in more use than I can possibly describe.

Also crossbowmen rock: Take up to your limit and slap Vrasku on as their leader for extra shootiness. I personally use Scout bowmen as proxxies since they're ludicrously expensive.

My son uses a troll supported by crossbows and pikes. Works pretty well.

Well I would suggest getting another box of Uruks, then getting a fair share of crossbows and shield armed ururks. As mentioned by others a troll is ALWAYS nice to have as Isengard, outside of that I suggest either some common Orcs or Dunlendings supplemented by some varg riders.

Same here. Also consider basic ork spearmen as support; if you can get a good core of crossbows, uruk hai with shields in there, they're a nasty force.

You can also convert pikemen to crossbowmen using gripping beast bits - saves a huge amount! (see the fella on far right).

Gripping beast spears are great for converting Orc spearmen, too, again this saves a packet...

Greetings again! After building some models and talking with a friend who is also starting LotR, we have decided to build 500pt armies. Since I posted this, I still have the box of Uruk-hai (5 sword and board, and 5 pikes), 4 Crossbowmen, and a Troll with spear. This conveniently comes out to 250pts. I plan on getting another box of Uruk-hai and another set of crossbowmen. With the remaining points I was planning on a standard bearer and another crossbowman. Currently my only problem is what leader I want to take. I'm thinking either Lurtz or Vrasku. Suggestions?

I would run with Lurtzs just because I like him, based on the books/films and I am always a weakling for such angry Uruks as him, but both really works well. And later you could expand to include both!!!!

Ya I would run Lurtz but you can also Sarumon for a little bit of magic and to switch it up every once in a while.
I also like warg riders myself which adds some cavalry to your force so you ight want to consider that.
You do have a great base for your army so far though!
