We all know a lot of the top eldar lists ally dark eldar for baron shenanigans. What do dark eldar get from regular eldar? Cocompetitively I'm speaking, is it better than pure DE? I have a wraithknight on the way, and I'm wondering if that will add dynamic to my DE army.

Weirdly enough you add toughness. You also add the best transport in the game currently, the Wave Serpent. Personally I add them just for the Wraith units because those are the only things I like from the Eldar.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

I was looking at Frankie's list from frontline gaming, he mainly runs like 5 - 6 venoms, 3 ravagers, vect, a wraithknight and 20 guardians. I'm wondering if that's better than being able to take 4 additional raiders with kabbies by running pure DE.

The mentioned wraithknights and wave serpents, but also solid psyker support and scoring jetbike shenanigans.

Mantleseer on bike buffs venoms, ravagers and anything else that shoots in DE. Not to mention prescience works in combat as well making those god damn beast squads very powerful.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Troops that can actually hold objectives (Wraithguards), the best transport in the game, cover-ignoring weapons, access to melta via Fire Dragons, psyker support, scoring jetbikes.

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.

In my opinion, the psychic powers is the biggest advantage. Getting Fortune on a beastpack (led by the Baron) is a popular build around here (though some will go so far to use the beastpack in an allied slot just to ensure 2 Farseers for fortune). Also, with access to Prescience (divination) it makes all to-hit rolls more effective in shooting and combat. Alternatively, Telepathy can be huge as well with Invisibility (forcing an enemy to be at WS1 in close combat) and Terrify (no more Fearless!) to ensure what you go after can break from shooting or assault losses. You can even pair up Terrify with Horrify for even more fun but that's more gimmicky than a truly dependable strategy.

This turns into an eldar army, I still want the majority of my force to be DE. Hence, thinking about wraithknights and guardians and a farseer. Are wraithknights worthwhile?

Is that a legit question???

More of a legit question that you asking me if it is a legitimate question. Why don't people just give straight answers anymore?

Yes wraithknights are worth while. They add strength 10 which we simply lack as well as a good bully unit which is fast and tough. Lances work adequately for AV 13+ and 11- but AV 12 is quite hard to shoot down. strength 10 will help. Guardians are helpful as they add AP 2 we lack (Sure everyone packs loads of Dark Light but they aren't likely to be shooting at termies) and if taking in a squad 10<X then they become a stable scoring unit that, remarkably, wont instantly evaporate when shot at. The Farseer is of cause a great buy, with or without Mantel and jetbike, as they have definite access to two re-roll powers (prescience and Guide) which really help Ravagers with wobbly lance syndrome, the extra roll is just dandy and I like to roll it on telepathy. For a small allied force slotting into a DE 1500pt army to create a 2000pt you could go for something like...

Farseer with Singing Spear 105pts

15 Guardians with Shurikan cannon 150pts

Wraithknight. 240pts

Aegis Defence Line with Quad Gun 100pts

495pts. Solid and deadly scoring unit behind assured cover with Ld 10 granting 2 re-rolls per turn to Ravagers/Venoms plus whatever extra roll gets you with the added bonus of having a Bs 5 Quad Gun for extra AA. Nice, useful, solid and provides a viable anchor for the fast moving and mobile DE force. >

Beaststar with FortuneSeer and baron, and their SCORING Eldar Windryders are much more durable than any dark eldar bikes. Like a lot.

WraithKnight plays midfield and keeps both sides of the field in sight and prepares to go after any sneaky guys behind the lines.

Add venomspam and 2 Ravagers.

I played against this and beat it but lemmme tell ya: no picnic. Had to sacrifice 2/3 of my force to win. On the plus side: its not an unbeatable list. Downside: you have to be really mobile to defend against it.

wind ryders, 3 of them, is 61 points i think with the cannon (generally worth taking)

The list i gave you includes the Guardians price (9pts per model) and a Jetseer with Mantel and spear is 155pts. I would advise against a mantel seer originally because you are intent on using Guardians and they really shine when a Farseer is added to them. The powers are free, as all farseers are mastery level 3 with access to Runes of Fate, divination and telepathy.

well a FortuneSeer would be for the beastpack if he goes that way. I think dire Avengers with their 5+ invul is probably a better BODYGUARD type unit. Its the only time I'd use Dire Avengers but would definitely do so if using him that way with a Farseer.

The speed of a Jetseer is an asset that should probably be put to better use though.

Here is what I would add in if I were you.

-Farseer- Mantle of the Laughing God, Jetbike- 155 pts. The mantle + bike combo gives him a 2+ rerolable cover save just for moving normally. He can cast his buffs, and then jet 48" (12" move + 36" flat out) across the board to be in position next turn to buff who ever needs it.

-Wraithknight- Two heavy Wraith cannons- 240 points. 2 S10 AP2 shots in the shooting phase, and 5 S10 AP2 attacks on the charge. He is T8 and has 6 wounds and a 3+ save. Always keep at least a big toe in area terrain for 5+ cover and you are golden. He is also has the "Jump" type so he can move 12" a turn.

Windrider Jetbike Squadron- 1x Shurican cannon- 61 points. Probably the best scoring unit in the game. Start these bad boys in reserve and hide them until Turn 5. If they come on early, just have them behind LoS blocking terrain, move them out, shoot the cannon, and then use your assault move to jump back behind the terrain piece. When turn 5 comes you can jet them 48" across the board to contest/capture far flung objectives.

Total is 456 points.
