Yeah, I think what is going to work is grey primer first, then the Army Painter yellow over. I have been practicing and think I got the application down better. Now I just need to strip all the practice runs and start over.

Nothing quite as impressive as some of the other stuff posted prior to now, but here's what's in front of me at current.

Third (and final, for now) Vostroyan Heavy Weapon Team with a Lascannon. I've already finished to of them off and decided to go ahead and do a few more infantry models. I recently completed a Grenade Launcher (second of a pair) and wanted to go ahead and knock out this HWT. Next on the chopping block is the Sergeant w/ a Power fist pictured next to the Lascannon HWT I'm working on. After that, I'm not sure if I'm going to paint another few infantry models, or if I'm going to get started on more vehicles. Currently have two Valkyrie/Vendetta flyers to paint, a pair of armored Sentinels, as well as a Devil Dog and a Leman Russ Vanquisher to paint still for vehicles. On top of that, I've still got a good ~20 infantry still to paint. Trying to make headway, slowly. Getting this HWT finished will help get me motivated, as they take so much longer to paint vs. a standard infantry model.

That's my contribution. Thanks for looking

He needs to be sealed and then probably a little blood for the blood god goreification.

They won't all have blue pants/jeans. The spikes on his back are the same color as the gun, you can kind of tell from the shoulders. Not sure if I like the implementation of red for the eyes.

Need to finish the other 7-8 guys from the team since I'm happy enough with this dude to move forward.

I'd also recommend some Nurgles rot for gore-ification (Assuming its a zombie. It looks like one)

It is a plague mutant. It's not far off from a zombie, but it still reasons on some level, enough to use technology and especially spacecraft to get the bigger more virulent plague monsters off the planet and to another one. The guys that don't mutate into a useful form like this can still animate as a kind of zombie, mutant spikey zombie, but truer to the archetype. I'll consider it, I've got some nurgle rot that I'd like to try out. May wait for the proper zombies too though.

Fantastic thread, great idea, and some great work on here, very inspirational stuff.

And this....

The last one is for the LoER Terrain competition round 9, currently running.

Thanks for this opportunity. Keep it coming people, brilliant.

I'm gonna have to start following the terrain comp threads... That looks stellar. No way I have time or ability enough to compete... but neat to follow.

I've got some strides made on a 2nd gen plague, will round some things up and come back with pictures when time permits.

Probably won't have time to paint tonight, but should have these done tomorrow. So far, I have painted 100 models since I started painting again 27 days ago.

Just out of curiosity, what are these Paint-jar looking things with clay on top? I guess some are paint jars, obviously. But what purpose does the clay hold?

The jars themselves are old paint pots from the Polly-S acrylic paint line that I used in... sometime in the early 90s. Probably 91-93ish. By 95, I had switched to mostly GW paints (and then to Vallejos just after 2000). I kept all of my old Polly-S dried up jars because they are the perfect size for GW circle bases stuck on with blue-tac.

As to the... clay? I am not sure what it is the looks like the clay (since I am so used to what they are). The tops were all painted with the colors that were in them at the time. Most of them have a ring of black slop paint from me painting the bases of previous figures. The lids are also metal, so they work well for holding onto my magnetized swappable weapons as well.

Since I am posting, here is that same group of figures tonight:

I need probably another 2 hours to finish up the lot.

This is my first airbrushed vehicle. Did base coat and then a highlight for each color in the camo. I achieved the pattern using masking tape. I could have been a tad neater with the tape, but I didn't know any better and am learning from experience. Now that the camo is done its on to the details.

Would love to hear your guys' thoughts - all comments and criticism are welcome!

Yours didnt have any clay on it, but pretty much any painting tutorial has it. I guess its just to hold the figure in place while rotating it.

Ah, ok, almost certainly it is blu-tack then (or some similar product) like in this pic I found online:

More about the product can be found here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-Tack

(Blu-tack is also what is holding all of my guardians to the top of my paint pots, you just can't see that in the pics I have posted.)

Blue tack is great. I use it for that, as well as trying poses for minis. Sometimes I even use it as makeshift gap filler, just a light coat of super glue on top.

Used to use blue tak as we now use Green Stuff, back in the day, like you say, coat of superglue and you are golden.

You can also now get Black Tak, which is much stronger.

After taking a break for a few months due to work, I've finally been able to get back to working on my Knightworld guard. The fact that we can actually have knights now is just icing on the cake!
Now if i could just find where my wife stashed the rest of the platoon and get them based, I'll be back in business
Also you can see in the background my vets, a combo of Empire greatsword, SM scouts, and Cadian kits with bits from anvil industries. (on a side note I have trouble getting their resin to stay glued to things, i washed them but should I be using something other than plastic or standard superglue?). Also the faceplate of my knight, I'm thinking of naming him the Jack of Blades but I've kinda hit rut and cant decide on design for the back plate.

Should finish these in the morning:

Just built this guy tonight. Still have some fill work and details to add, but won't be able to paint him this weekend - weather is too wet for priming:

After I finish the Wraithlords, I will try finishing the 3 Vypers I got half done a couple of weeks ago.

I'm working on some objective markers for a mate's space marine army - my first attempt at cutting and reposing models as well as my first green stuff use. It's not great an I'm aware I need more practice, but I'm still pleased with how they're looking so far.

Wasn't up to doing anything that needed a steady hand this past week so I decided to finish off some old mantic elves I had by dipping then varnishing them. Bit of a rush job but they were looking ok until I managed to frost them with the varnish. Cest La vie.
