Got paint chips and decals done for my chimera. Gave it a coat of gloss varnish before bed and I'm hoping to bust out the oil paints this evening and hit the recesses and rivets. Comments and criticisms welcome!

Thats actually starting to look like the best tank I've seen. The real metal look helps that alot

@ carlos13th & Hive Fleet Cerebus - Thank you guys! I'm hoping to finish it up in the next week or so and will keep posting updates.

As for faster painting without working in batches, I am probably one of the slowest painters ever. It doesn't help that I love the IG, either. I would say my motivation for a finished product is what keeps me on track and working at a good enough pace when I actually am sitting down and painting. Sometimes I keep a few finished models on my desk as a reminder that what I'm working on will look like them soon enough.

Here's the latest update to the Chimera. Experimented with oil paints to create rain streaking effects for the first time last night and I feel pleased with the results. I think it looks a bit greasy here because of the gloss varnish and I don't think the oil paint had quite dried when I took the picture. When I'm done with the whole model it will get a nice spray of dullcote. What do you guys think of it?

Looking good everyone! I did some more work with the oils last night... think I might have gone a bit too far on the right side of the hull. What do you guys think? Hoping to finish off with the oils and have a go at some rust effects this weekend.

Blimey, my poor models put to shame. Here's the state of my bench at the mo. The part of the house informally referred to as 'the missus' exasperation'.

Edit:arrrrgh, cannot get this to work posting multiple images. Cos they all have the same file name on iPad, it just posts the same pic over and over. Will have to try again tomorrow.

It's amazing what you can do with fish bowl stones, picture WILL come soon!

My crazy 'try a bigger needle in my airbrush' plan somehow mysteriously worked, so I got some more pieces worked on and undercoated:

I tried to use the airbrush to add some shading as I went, or well not-not add some shading. Leave parts of it darker.. same thing. Working?

Just a quick update, painted my Tartoros terminators as far as I can, as the rest of the bits are at home, the yellow is much better blended than the picture suggests

Might go back and re-do the crux terminatus.

Next on the chopping block: Justaerin terminators converted to Wolf Guard

Let me know what you think of them

Cam, your work can be summed up in 1 word: EPIC!!

I have been plugging away at my terminators, got the browns done and almost doe with the reds, then on to gold and metal

A question though, the autocannon guy, should he keep the centre of his belt all gold, or should I paint it like a big giant gemstone???

They look amazing, and I would go with a contrasting gem or metal, maybe a black! But that may not be in keeping.

Oh and thank you.
