Does the Through attrition, Victory special rule apply to imperial knights? As they are not selected through the Escalation rulebook but they are super heavies in standard 40k.... Thoughts?

I am not 100% but they have their own codex with their own rules.

I am failry certain they are not a Lord of War and as such the Through attrition rule only applies to your Lord of War.

They are not a Lord of War, therefore the escalation rule covering Lords of War does not apply

Best advice is to wait until tomorrow when the actual codex comes out.
But currently they don't use those rules.

Saw the codex in the flesh, still not a Lord of war

Wouldnt work as a full army if they were, as you can have up to 6 of them which wouldnt fit the LoW slot...

I didn't think they would be, but thought they might have a rule including things like "through attrition, victory".

Not that I am doubting you in any way, nor entirely arguing with the general statement you are making...

But.

That up to 6 per army as a primary detachment and therefore not being a Lord of War(besides Lord of War being a separate detachment option from Primaries) Would only be "proof" if they are 6 separate FOC slots. The ability to take multiple independent Super heavies could be a single Lord of War slot where a Super heavy written up to allow such a Single Super Heavy Slot(Like BA Sanguinary Priests).

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

As nosferatu, i would "confirm" it is 1 Elite FOC compulsory with 5 Optionals ;-)

I have the book and no you do not get bonus VPs for stripping hull points as they are not lords of war.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Fair enough. Thankyou Ravenous D! What is the allies matrix like? Any chance chaos can use knights?

Even though chaos knights ARE mentioned somewhere, no alliances...

Grey Knights and Eldar are allies of convenience

Desperate allies with Tau and Dark Eldar

Chaos, Daemons, Crons, Orks and Nids Cannot ally with them.

Everyone else can take a knight detachment (not your allies detachment) of 1-3, they are NOT SCORING when taken in this way. They only score if they are the primary.

Not completely true, You can have IG as your primary, daemons as your ally, and then take knights. That's about it.

EDIT: Nevermind, that is not true, you cannot mix stuff unless it can ally together.

If Knights and Chaos can't ally then this won't work.
The levels of alliance apply to ALL parts of the army. It isn't just the relationship between Primary and Ally.
In fact the Allies rules never even mention detachments, it's all about the relationship between ALL forces used.

BRB Levels of Alliance wrote:To represent this, we have several categories of alliances, each of which imposes certain effects on the game. The Allies Matrix shows the levels of potential alliance between each army.
In this section they talk about armies being forces from a codex, rather than your entire force.

So in your example you have 3 armies:
Imperial Guard,
Imperial Knights,
Chaos Daemons.

Note the above quote cares not about detachments. It's the relationship between armies, and two of your armies cannot be in the same force.

Yeah just double checked that after I wrote it. Was about to correct it but you bastards are quick.
