First lot of boyz (a whopping 6 I know) I have had my colour scheme picked for some time and have done a couple of vehicles, my 2 HQs and 5 lootaz (all in my blog), but these are the first troops iv finished for the army, as iv bee frankly too scare to start them . They took me a long time to do and im still not 100% on the results. none the less I would like to hear what people think of them (apart from drilling the barrels I will do that when I have a new drill bit and I am feeling confident enough) Your thoughts will be much appreciated.

Thanks for looking.

I think that you need tiny dots of red on the eyeballs, or maybe bright yellow. Something that will make them pop out like psycho strobe lights.

Let's see not to shabby for your first six. One thing that sticks out to me is the big shootas backpack it's to bland for my liking I'd go for a little bit more contrast. Maybe another heavy wash and some highlights and then I would go with a lighter color on the thread but hey that's me.

Other then that I agree with the eye comment but they can be tricky, Good Luck.

So all in all very nice work and with a few touch ups they would be better

Thanks for the feedback guys, but all of their eyes are coloured blood red, must just be the lighting/ photos. maybe I just need to go over them again. Backpack comment noted, thank you will revise that tonight.

I think Orks eyes are supposed to be blood red.

I like your technique on the Orks!

I like them very much. The bases contrast nicely against the models, which is nice because it makes the models easier to 'read' from further away imo.

Maybe try having the ammo copper coloured to stand out a bit from the other metals. ^^

These guys are Deathskulls, right? If you want to you can emphasize their looting mania by kit bashing a bit ^^

Thanks everyone for the comments and avice, I thought I would update this post to show that I took it into account and made some improvements.

masterblaster- did another wash on the backpack and used a lighter brown in some places.

centuryslayer- Took your advice and made the ammunition more brass looking. Think it looks a lot better now.

bossfearless- Heres a better picture of the eyes. A lot of the helmets/eye sockets created too much of a shadow while I was trying to snap a picture, all of these guys eyes are like this.

Still open to suggestions for improvements.

Well, you could blacken the ends of the gun barrels to give a more used look.

Also, the blue bits could have an edge highlight, and / or the green skin could go a shade brighter, if you wanted to brighten them up a bit. Just a matter of taste on those two.

They are excellent as is though, an army painted like this would look great.

You are getting some great advice.

The only thing I would add is to clean up the base rims, paint them a solid colour rather than having them drybrushed still, it will just neaten up the models and finish them off.

Either go with a solid black, or the light grey they are now.

Graveyard Earth is the only colour you're allowed to paint bases, GW law
Would agree on an edge highlight on the blue, or even a drybrush which would help it stand out more.

Also, you're collecting Death Skulls! Where's the WAR PAINT? There has to be war paint on their faces!! Make it bright blue, it'll really help to pick out your models faces from a distance and help to break up the big patches of green skin. Also it's fluffy and makes them Scottish.

I really want to do this, but Im not entirely sure how to go about it without it looking terrible (especially the ones with blue helmets as I fear it will just look like I slipped with the blue.) I might just paint up some spare ork heads and arms to try it out on, but if somebody could link me to a tutorial on blue tattoos or war paint that would be great.

If you don't want it to look like you slipped then paint very distinct patterns like triangles up from the chin, or rectangles and then do the big, full face stuff on the models without helmets.
I went for the old Fenris Grey, wash of Badab Black and then Fenris Grey again.
