Hello Everyone! After many long months of slowly gathing an army I am finally nearing completion for my Air Cav theme utilizing the "IA3 2E" book from Forgeworld. I am going with this to fit the fluff and imagery of an army burning through the sky flying in from the atmosphere taking the fight to the enemy, and to take advantage of the new "combat drop" rule (where Valkyries, Sentry Guns, Skytalons and Drop Sentinels get the "Drop Pod Assault" rule allowing up to half of them to come in first turn via Deep Strike. This will be the first 2000pt. installment of a 4000pt. Elysian army I am hoping to collect. Now added on to this post will be a poll to decide what to name my Regiment as I have come up with a few ideas and would love to see what you guys think. As usual any thoughts, comments or ideas regarding this list are more then welcome and thanks for posting!

TOTAL ARMY: 1999 POINTS

Models:

-x5 Valkyries
-x3 Vendettas
-x2 Avenger Strike Fighters
-x55 Infantry

Tactics:

-Thanks to the Elysian "Combat Drop" rule I will have x3 Valkyries Deep Striking and "zooming" when they enter to increase survivability, I plan on trying to go 2nd in most games to limit the amount of incoming fire my army will have to take.

-Company Command squad will primarily be sitting in their transport (Vendetta) staying safe, using the skills of the Long Range Ground Scanner so I have a better chance at both maintaining air superiority (if I wont be already) and to prevent Slay the Warlord.

-All my Veterans are kitted out with either Plasma to handle heavy infantry and Monstrous Creatures while I have a few units with Melta-Guns to deal with the new big nasties like the Imperial Knight and Lords of War Selections I may come across. The Valkyries they are riding in have Rocket Pods and will be focusing on infantry targets.

-x3 Vendettas whose primary role will be to focus on anti armor, Monstrous Creatures, Lords of War Choices ect.

-x2 Avenger Strike Fighters with nothing added on to them as they come pretty balanced to begin with as the Avenger Bolt Cannon (Heavy 7 S6 AP3) with the Lascannons gives me a good mix of both anti-infantry, air and vehicle capability.

This list is a lot of fun, play tested this against my buddies competitive Serpent Spam Eldar and beat him quite soundly with it! I Deepstriked both my Melta Squads and a Plasma Sqaud in on hover mode, dismounted the Veterans inside and was able to take down x2 of his Wave Serpents and shoot and Rocket Pod the squads that got out Turn 1!

No Vultures with Punisher Cannons? They really are an excellent alternative to the Vendetta.

In this book (Imperial Armor #3 Second Edition) they are in the Fast Attack slot meaning they are competing with Vendettas, I needed the anti-tank so I made the ideal choice. The Avenger Strike Fighters are pretty universal at their role against infantry and vehicles, but I do wish Vultures were still Heavy Support for my Elysians.
