Hey Dakka.
It's either flicker or night shields, the one that reduces range by 6".
Rapid fire is half of the weapons maximum range, do flicker fields reduce my rapid fire to 9" (half of 18") or is it 12" still?
Had this argument with a DE player some time ago, she said you don't because it knocks 6" off of my range.
To my knowledge it doesn't affect my maximum range.
I'm not sure if they'd be different things.
Any input would help, thanks.

The Night Shields description in the DE codex specifically says it does affect rapid fire range and uses the example of a bolter: goes from 24" (rapid fire 12") to 18" rapid fire 9"

Night shields.
Flickerfields are the ones that give a 5++ save,
Night shields reduce the weapon's total range by 6''. This
affects special effects that go off at half range like melta etc.
Rapid fire weapons don't automatically doubletap at 12''
They fire two shots at half the weapon's maximum range, which is reduced by Night Shields.
Pg 52 for rapid fire rules.
Clarification from DE FAQ
Page 63 – Night Shields.
In the second sentence, change “reducing the range of enemy
units”to “reducing the range of the weapons of enemy units”.
